After a lengthy discussion with several Synthetic Militia members Amidian and I have come to the conclusion that a slow grow league would be a fun and entertaining addition to the monthly Synthetic Militia meetings. Because of the fact that a general slow grow league is run over the course of six weeks and we can't possibly follow that time line because we have meetings on a monthly basis we have changed a few of the rules.
The first element I need to address is the monthly growth. The league will be run over the course of six months with participants selecting a single faction for the entire duration (same warlock/warcaster - for most of it as well). Month 1 - 15pts (mangled metal or tooth and claw style which means warlock/warcaster and warbeasts/jacks) Month 2 - 25pts - you must keep the modles that were in your 15pt battlegroup the same however you can move warjacks around using jack marshal if you wish. Month 3 - 35pts - same core 25pt army with the additional 10pts. Month 4 - 50pts - Once again this is simply an extension of your 35pt list with the same warlock/warcaster. Month 5 - 35pts - Domination Event. Month 6 - 50pts - Same faction but you can change around your list to whatever you wish. The general idea for a slow grow league is to have people start up new factions and play games with an entirely different army, but after conversing with members last week it became apparent that there was some resistance to starting new factions. To fix this we have ruled that if you are wanting to participate but don't really want to get into a new faction then you can play with a caster that is one that you haven't really used much - after all most people will be playing with entire factions that are new to them so we need to keep it fun and fair. So by all means stay as your favourite faction but start a list for an entirely new caster..... Branch out into other elements of the faction. Because we won't be starting this until next year and we have a number of people who want to get painting we have ruled that you don't need to bring your 15pt list unpainted in the fist week... If you wish to start your new band and get painting right away you can. Points will be given in the following manner: - 3pts for a victory. - 1pt for a draw. - 1pt for a loss. Double points if your entire army is painted. In house rules include the following: - You can include unique jacks or warbeasts only with the warlock or warcaster who has an affinity with the model. - Warcaster/warlock attachments can not be included until 25pts (month 2). Payment will be $2 to play each month with the proceeds going towards prizes at the end of the six month period. Please leave comments as we are prepared to discuss the finer details of the league - this is simply the preliminary post to get people thinking about their faction choices, we encourage people to think of any additional house rules that you might like to see.... Question for Luke - do you want a list from those of us buying models over the six months so you can keep stock levels up (mainly cause PP are jerks when it comes to getting models to us when we need them)?

Question for Luke - do you want a list from those of us buying models over the six months so you can keep stock levels up (mainly cause PP are jerks when it comes to getting models to us when we need them)? Yes, that would be good if people advertised here*, but I also know that Gamer ADD can work that against me and cost me. I'll just need to find the fine line between balance and sanity between the two. *But my continuous reiteration that things sell - a continuous out of stock then back into stock cycle - during the weeks and months between game clubs still stands. If something isn't ordered by a player, then there is no guarantee that I will have the item on any given day. -------------------- Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici PHOENIX FORGE Products at 20% off AUS RRP at www.phoenix-forge.com! Don't worry mate. I've got a list that I'm going to build to and stick to. If I need anything else added to it I'll take my chances like normal.
It's just that I won't be able to afford the entire list of stuff needed for the league in one go but I didn't want to miss out on a month because PP are doing their best to annoy gamers with supply issues (can I say that or does that make me a GW fanboi). -------------------- Hello, my name is Glenn Blair. Factions have been updates - Its a very good idea to write each of your lists out now and stick to what you have planned - so going through from 15pts to 25pts to 35pts etc, are people happy to publish their lists here ? I would like a list of casters that people are planning to bring along and we will need copies of people's lists to keep record but I am happy to receive those as PMs or we can discuss them openly in the forums.
If we keep it private you will need to contact Luke through PMs as well. Kind Regards, PG_Toadie |

I would assume it's seperate in regards to the restrictions?
As for my caster I can't decide between kromac and pKruger... Someone convince me one or the other. I like the look of kromac but fear he might play a little too like menoth. I thought about using grayle as well... And Glenn it doesn't make you a fan boi except to the PP fan bois, so expect to be entertained by some nerd gang violence at some stage next club. |

For the domination event is that part of the league or can we field what we want? Actually I was thinking of some questions about this as well. Would it run under the same sort of points accrual that the wrath event did or would we restrict a few things since it's part of our slow grow league eg., restricting the number of casters that can be used (not one) and dropping the bonus point for using 4 casters. -------------------- Hello, my name is Glenn Blair. It could be a completely different style of event, I imagine the only thing that you could be sure of is that the new locks and engine will play some part in winning.

Am I correct in the following additional fine details Toadie? I know we chatted about em, but want to confirm...
1) As you grow your list, say from 15pts to 25pts, the core battlegroup must remain, but its not fixed at 15pts. ie its possible to spend more points by adding another jack/beast to the actual battlegroup. 2) The Domination event is NOT controlling the League, but is more an opportunity to grow toward. ie its a great opportunity to build a hordes faction and have 35pts painted in it for when the event rolls around. If someone builds a WM army for the League, they can still run a Hordes army in the event then, or play their 'other/main' hordes faction for the medal Where this really works out, is you can slowly build and paint a 35pt list that you practice with each month and by the time the event comes around you can score most points with it. But, as the event has points for different casters etc, most people are ready to branch out a little by then to other casters during the day... 3) The painting rules are designed to encourage painting. Double points for painted army. And those guys who are building a faction (I think of trolls and skorne atm) wont be punished for painting or already painted their models. The intent is to play with the ones that arent used often, or try that shelved caster for a few months. This post has been edited by Amidian: Nov 28 2011, 07:46 PM |
