I want to play each of my games at least once during the year, otherwise they will probably get turfed.

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Jan 10 2014, 01:19 PM

I also have Ticket to Ride, Ascension, Dreadball and Citadels.

I will play all of your games.

Posted by: Tyra_Nid Jan 10 2014, 01:19 PM

I think I want to sell Merchants and Marauders.

Posted by: AstroBoy Jan 10 2014, 01:21 PM

Ian's copy of android is now my copy.

Posted by: Mr_Jiggledaddy Jan 10 2014, 01:22 PM

I have:

- Dominion
- Alhambra
- Carcassonne (so)
- 7 Wonders (much)
- Settlers of Catan (boardgame)
- Scotland Yard
- Nexus Ops (redundancy)
- Space Hulk (here)
- Gears of War
- soon to get Quarriors

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Jan 10 2014, 01:24 PM

Tim, that list reads as someone who has purchased all of high points of board gaming for an auxiliary group. Do you have an auxiliary group we're not privy to? Also, whose was gears?

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 01:24 PM

The follwing adjustments to my list are advised:

Remove the following:
Battue (left on the side of the road in St Kilda)
Warrior Knights (Sold to Pendragon)
Tide of Iron (Sold to Ari)
Android (Sold to Dan)

Add the following:
D-Day Dice (will probably offload this one)
Sucking Vacuum (lol)
Kings of Artifice (itching to play this)
Stone Age (have played, confirmed to be fun)
Diplomacy (lol)
Agricola + Farmers of the Moor

Posted by: Mr_Jiggledaddy Jan 10 2014, 01:25 PM

what does that mean

also Gears was me.

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Jan 10 2014, 01:27 PM

I am super hard for kings of artifice and stone age.

Tim, I mean why would you buy all those redundant copies unless you have other people to play with, and if you're playing with other people why aren't I playing with those other people? What have you got to hid you metal man...?

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 01:28 PM

Also, MIL.

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Jan 10 2014, 01:29 PM

Lol MIL. I haven't played that yet, but I like the mechanic of defensive breeding.

Posted by: Mr_Jiggledaddy Jan 10 2014, 01:31 PM

because
a) I like these games
b) flakiness/ real lives of people mean that the sole copy of the game is not always present
c) I am slowly getting Simone into games. She plays a feisty game of Dominion
d) my family also has a few game players

also - other people also have redundant copies of games.

I really liked MIL. let's play MIL moar.

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Jan 10 2014, 01:32 PM

I think we need a second copy of Scotland Yard. What if I need to play and Tim isn't around?

Posted by: Mr_Jiggledaddy Jan 10 2014, 01:33 PM

Did you guys like Scotland Yard? I got the impression that without the cheating MarauderNet there was little interest. It lives in the boot of my car so it's always present when I am present.

We have a billion copies of roborally at club too

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Jan 10 2014, 01:38 PM

I've got my eye on you Denton.

I would like to play scotland yard, I didn't get to play it. Topher has a copy in his shed as well.

WTF is heresy?

QUOTE

Still not nearly enough.

Posted by: Tyra_Nid Jan 10 2014, 01:40 PM

I want to get the Vampire themed scotland-yard-ish game. Maybe I should buy that.

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Jan 10 2014, 01:42 PM

Fury of Dracula

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Jan 10 2014, 01:53 PM

Do we not have a copy of Dixit?

I'll probably pick one up then.

Posted by: Mr_Jiggledaddy Jan 10 2014, 01:55 PM

I thought Ian had Dixit?

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 01:58 PM

Oh yeah. I have Dixit. It's excellent.

The best part is when you talk to people about it and they assume it's about dicks.

Posted by: awesomeshotdude Jan 10 2014, 01:59 PM

I had a look at the games on those lists and I didn't see Tomb...have you guys never played it? Awesome fun game...the rulebook could do with being a little more ordered, but it's not bad.

The game is so much fun. Each player runs a group of adventurers and you go into a tomb to break open crypts to find treasure...whilst at the same time backstabbing and stealing from each other and just generally trying to ###### each other over....lots of death and lot sof laughs...

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Jan 10 2014, 02:10 PM

Seems legit. Will add it to the list of interested items.

I also like the look of escape: the curse of the temple. Fairly typical co-op puzzle solver, walk around, roll dice, do stuff, be indy. The twist is that it's not turn based, it's real time, do stuff fast before the soundtrack (which also has musical cues for traps triggering and stuff) runs out.

Posted by: Three Headed Monkey Jan 10 2014, 02:12 PM

I also have

Elder Sign + Unseen Forces
Discworld: Ankh-Morpork

Apparently letters from Whitechapel is a simpler Scotland Yard.

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 02:13 PM

#### I'm interested in:

- Flaspoint
- Robinson Crusoe
- 1001 Tales of the Arabian Nights
- Dungeon Petz

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Jan 10 2014, 02:15 PM

You go buy Dungeon Petz, I'll get the game where you compete to claim intergalactic Trash contracts.

QUOTE(Dice Array @ Jan 10 2014, 02:58 PM) *

Yes I am playing with non-gamers this weekend and thought it would be appropriate.

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 02:16 PM

I can loan you mine if you like.

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Jan 10 2014, 02:17 PM

That would be v.cool, cheers.

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 02:17 PM

Arabian nights sounds like Relicsman, only with even less control over the outcome. So tempted.

Posted by: Kaiser Jan 10 2014, 02:21 PM

To append to the listing of my games:

The full list can always be found under 'Got Game' in my signature which will take you back to http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=65819&st=0&p=878730&#entry878730.

Ahahahaha, oh man, I bought this about 2 weeks ago for the family to play...it is very cool and only lasts 10 minutes...comes with its own soundtrack DVD but you can also link to it on your tablet/phone/whatever from their website...uses the multitasking parts of your brain fairly well trying to simultaneously keep track of several things.

A frantic fun little game. If you play the game with the rules straight out of the box though, the black heads on the dice can really ###### you up. I started out ignoring those until we all got a little better at it then included them...

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Jan 10 2014, 02:37 PM

Steve, I should probably bequeath you my copy of battles of westeros. I would like to play, but it makes more sense for you to own it with all the expansions and no base game.

Posted by: Kaiser Jan 10 2014, 02:49 PM

I do have a copy of the base game now, picked it up some time after getting ######ed over by questionable fishpond business practices.

Edit: Cheers for the offer though, still need to press gang someone into gluing all the bases for me.

Posted by: awesomeshotdude Jan 10 2014, 03:41 PM

I'm not seeing Runebound here either. That's a cool game. Although you need to get some of the expansions to retain variety. You can still pick it up on ebay etc (its OOP now) but I suspect it won't be too long before we see either a reprint or a 3rd edition appear under FFG's sights...

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Jan 10 2014, 03:43 PM

I think Ari has that. Or rune something. I haven't played it. They said it was good though. I think it got buried under the glut of other dudes on a map games.

FFG aren't printing the coffin box games at the moment from what I hear due to the cost of printing & production. Saw it on BGG.

Ari definitely has it.

Posted by: Three Headed Monkey Jan 10 2014, 03:45 PM

Nah, that's Runewars. Runebound is an adventure game. Same universe.

Also, add Rex to the list of games I own.

I have Runewars as well....just haven't gotten around to breaking it out yet though. I saw some clown selling a "Weapons of Legend" pack (about 30 cards or so) for Runebound on ebay the other day...he wanted well over $200!!!

Just for reference I have:

Posted by: awesomeshotdude Jan 10 2014, 04:10 PM

Dungeon Twister might be a game you guys like as well. I have the base game and a couple of expansions and it is a lot of fun. They did a video game for it too, but from memory it as a bit of a flop.

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Jan 10 2014, 04:11 PM

Hey, can someone unpin the MERCS league thread, and pin this instead.

While I've heard good reviews we've got about eleventy billion dungeon crawl games that already compete for gametime. I don't think it would get played over the D&D ones and descent unless it's significantly quicker or does something really really cool. I'm already concerned my copy of myth won't see the table time it needs to in order to justify itself for this reason.

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 04:37 PM

Aaron's method of ensuring table time is good.

QUOTE

What's that?

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 04:57 PM

1. bring game
2. set up game
3. wait

for extra synergy, the lazy gamer can set the game up in front of Dan, who will read the rulebook for you.

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Jan 10 2014, 05:45 PM

lol

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 06:26 PM

Mille Simmes appear to be having a Sale at the moment. Unless they just always happen to have 25% off all the time.

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Jan 10 2014, 06:29 PM

I think thats their standard mark down from retail...?

Hence why Aaron buys there

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 10 2014, 06:36 PM

I thought the standard deal was 10% off for orders over $100, and 20% off for orders over $200, but then it's been awhile since I've been near there.

There's shifting the balance to gain an extra turn or two to make your move and then there's just plain old MWM spite (e.g. I may not win but guess who else isn't going to win).

That's the low hum of the SpiteLaser being warmed up.

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 25 2014, 06:35 PM

Well. I just done bought the following:

1× Android Infiltration Game
1× Tales of the Arabian Nights
1× Forbidden Desert
1× Stronghold Game

Also worth noting in the OP that I have Small world Underground and Small World Realms.

Stronghold looks sick. 2-4 people in teams. Two human players inside castle, and two orc players outside the castle who would very much like to be inside with the humans.

The very same. You should play actual for reals Android if you haven't. Dan has a copy.

Posted by: Tyra_Nid Jan 26 2014, 10:25 PM

Hey Ian, with Stone Age, the one thing I didn't like was the dice mechanic. I like to plan out turns with maximum efficiency rather than getting screwed by luck. I don't think it necessarily makes the game much more accessible either.

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 26 2014, 10:51 PM

I practice, I think it means that you either play conservatively and put lots of dudes down, or take the gamble with fewer dudes. Or you only buy things you can afford at the start of the turn? Iunno.

High on theme but can be gamed pretty hard if someone wants to win through puzzle/conspiracy points undermining the rest of the game mechanics by being OP. It also has troll cards associated with each player that anybody can take so easy to set someone back or unleash spite lasers. But with the right crowd playing it as a narrative game, the clumsy mechanics can be overlooked and a good time had.

Yep, this is the conclusion we came to as well.

Dan says it's a game about having the best noir movie.

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Jan 28 2014, 12:52 AM

I know we played the puzzles wrong the first time.

Posted by: AstroBoy Jan 28 2014, 06:54 AM

Yeah, Aaron was doing the puzzle at triple efficiency the first time.

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Jan 28 2014, 09:32 AM

Dan we should play again. I liked that game.

Posted by: Dice Array Jan 28 2014, 09:36 AM

I think it should be possible to get a game going at das Casa del Toph with Toph, Dan, Aaron, Ian and someone else.

I think the someone else should definitely be Scott.

Posted by: TopherPlus Jan 28 2014, 09:47 AM

Could be workable.

I think I have a window of about 2-3 weeks before its going to be hard for me to host.

Post arrival of 2.0, I will be on leave for a month, then part time for a couple of months (fingers crossed) and so should be able to sort out a couple of sessions to give me a break from being dad.

(Also if there are a couple more people free for Sat 8 Feb, I'm in need of some volunteers for playtesting a ruleset. I have a couple of MWMers sounded out, plus a couple of externals. Probably 11am onwards - PM me if you want more info)

I've heard good things about Krosmaster Arena.

Posted by: TopherPlus Feb 5 2014, 01:29 PM

The review on paper rock shotgun alone makes me want to buy KA.

I think it would get more game time at my place than ZCide, but I've heard brilliant things about ZCide from more serious gamers.

Por que no los dos?

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Feb 5 2014, 01:32 PM

Aaron has played Zcide with his group a couple of times I think. I'm not sure how the response was.

Posted by: Three Headed Monkey Feb 5 2014, 01:33 PM

Zombicide is very good as well. Aaron got the kickstarter.

A very good zombie game, with heaps of slicing and dicing, while still being very challenging.

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Feb 5 2014, 01:34 PM

It went down very well with non-gamers.

Gannan loves it.

The mission we did at club was sub-par.

Posted by: Three Headed Monkey Feb 5 2014, 01:34 PM

Sessions can be a tad hit and miss, though.

If you want to get it to game with us, as I said, Aaron already has it. Perhaps get Krosmaster for the sake of gaming diversity?

Posted by: TopherPlus Feb 5 2014, 01:34 PM

So i'm getting both is what you're telling me?

(btw the answer is yes. you're telling me to get both)

I thought your hobby spending was on hiatus?

Posted by: TopherPlus Feb 5 2014, 01:50 PM

To an extent...

Pay a commission first, then i'll be back to zip. But with a month not doing a commute, buying lunches at work etc I'll be able to have a little outlay.

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Feb 5 2014, 01:53 PM

Oh I forgot about still getting paid both of your full wages (I presume?) while on leave.

Yeah, that's a pretty sweet deal.

Posted by: TopherPlus Feb 5 2014, 01:55 PM

Fleur gets her part time wage for 6 weeks and then minimum wage for a little while. No Abbott PPL for her (and rightly so).

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Feb 5 2014, 02:03 PM

Ah the mysteries of Parental leave. Yet another thing I don't understand like faxes and cheques.

Posted by: TopherPlus Feb 5 2014, 02:08 PM

Yeah I leave (heh.pun) all that to Fleur.

I get 15 days paid leave from work. Everything else is just using up my normal leave.

Anyway - the point is that I should be able to save enough to buy one or both of KA and ZCide but I think KA is higher up my list at the moment.

Looks so sweet.

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Feb 5 2014, 02:19 PM

And if you really want to play Zcide there's other copies around.

Good level of theme, strategy and then just ######ing over someone who annoys you.

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo Feb 14 2014, 03:30 PM

At a guess, they make 30 bucks on a $70 boardgame due to getting their shopping via containers instead of airfreight. Lot of margin.

Numbers based on nothing.
20ft container is about 33 cubic metres, Probs fit about 2.5 - 3k boardgames in it. Add shipping of $5-$10k. At $30 margin you're looking at what, $65-$95k per container?

Pretty sure they use a single point supplier in the USA which would eat some of that margin out, but still, not bad dollars.

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis Feb 14 2014, 03:38 PM

Yeah not too bad. And I guess they use sales to drive their required orders up to the point where they can fill a container? It just doesn't seem like anyone who works there has any idea how it works.

Posted by: Dice Array Feb 14 2014, 04:13 PM

I remember the register guy there authoritatively stating to some guy that a company only ever has a sale to reduce leftover stock.

I guess backorders are pretty much guaranteed sales, and they don't have to worry about speculating on games that might not sell.

Hey Scott, how long was it between their notification and your attempted collection?

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis May 13 2014, 03:22 PM

I think it was 9 days?

Posted by: Tyra_Nid May 13 2014, 03:24 PM

Did you raise their 2 week policy with them in your LawTalk email?

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis May 13 2014, 03:30 PM

I couldn't find it in print anywhere, I also decided that they are unlikely to forceably unsell an item.

Posted by: Mr_Jiggledaddy May 13 2014, 03:31 PM

Could be more LawTalky to refer to the ACL?

It's on the checkout page when you select the "pay in store" option. Says you have two weeks to collect then it goes back in stock.

Aww

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis May 13 2014, 08:20 PM

Did he tear them?

Posted by: TopherPlus May 13 2014, 08:33 PM

One small counter got a slight tear.

This is probably the 4th game he has assembled now.

Battlestar and Relic were 2 of the ones he has done. Sure he has done another one.

Posted by: TopherPlus May 13 2014, 10:07 PM

Ok so when you buy Krosmaster you get a little code and you can play the game online with the figures you own in real life. As you buy more sets you get them added to your online account too.

I just smashed someone in my first game and feel this could hamper my ability to perform any other functions in the near future.

It feels like hearthstone but with cute figures punching each other. Also Bill Tell smacks face.

I think I'll just get my order shipped to me - anyone need to get in on the postage?

Posted by: Blade_of_Apollo May 17 2014, 03:08 PM

Lol, it's a 15 min drive man.

Posted by: Chaplain_Fortis May 17 2014, 03:17 PM

It's not open any times that we're home. Wait actually it's open saturdays isn't it. Just go get it luke.

Posted by: Tyra_Nid May 17 2014, 05:40 PM

15 mins each way, 5 mins finding a park, 10 mins waiting and dealing with milsims customer service, having to "go out", product not being there when I get there because they've sold it to someone else... It's a toss up between that time wasted on weekend, vs postage charge.

Hey Dan, the game I was talking about at club that I couldn't remember the name of is http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/120677/terra-mystica. Apparently play time is around 100 minutes, which kinda fits into the length I'm looking for.

Just cruising the Hirst Arts website to see if he's done any cool moulds recently, and I stumbled across a game that he has made called Wayward.

BGG doesn't have much on it...no reviews there at least.

$49USD + $42USD shipping to Australia. So close to $100AUD for the game delivered to your door.

It looks like a fun Warm Milo and Pretzel game, and having the double sided map would certainly give it more replayability...but I think overall it would become a bit thin fairly quickly...one of those games you'd play several times in the first 2 or 3 weeks and then the novelty would wear off and you'd be lucky to see it on your table once every 6 months after that...so maybe not really worth the $100. Still, it does look kinda cool and some of the games aspects tie in nicely...and the artwork is really very attractive.

A quick game demo, which shows the second side of the playing mat towards the end;

In Bruce's typical style, he's uploaded a bazillion instructional videos smile.gif

I've really enjoyed every single session of resistance and this variant sounds like it has more meat on the bones. I wonder if it's something that we can mod your copy to do.

There has been literally one session of knights of the retarded table that went sour and that was due to a Sam tantrum not really anything to do with anything else. I don't think we have that much of a problem with hidden badguy games. Cluster###### seemed to go well.

I like resistance. I know you dislike not being able to play all 5 seats of a co-op game, but I quite like the dynamic of having so many moving pieces and hidden information in a puzzle game like that which is about human interaction instead of maximising corn output. It's a welcome change.

Also, I'm not sure if it got mentioned to you explicitly enough on Sunday, but it seems like a couple of the tiles in your NOPS copy have been switched with the ones from another copy at some point. We had the right number of hexes but not the right ratio of terrain types. Are there other copies of the FFG edition around that may have contaminated yours at some point? Also, no one has mentioned that Asmodee and FFG merged last month. For those of you not aware Asmodee is a Euro based distro/dev group that bought days of wonder a little while ago as well and distroed 7 wonders and dixit as well as dungeon twister, pandemic and many others.
