Event Horizon provide tournament participants with different ways of achieving top honours. Each of the awards are equal in value and follows our believe that each aspect of the hobby should be rewarded equally.
Knights Champion (Best General) The Knights Champion is to award the best 40k player (game play) during the weekend, and he will likely have a 6-0 record to proof it. At the end of Day 1, players with 3/0 record and highest 2/1 record (using Battle Points) will be grouped to make the top 8. On Day 2, the top 8 players will be fight for the Knights Champion. On Day 2, the drafted players will play against each other in a semi knock out style format. The player to go undefeated will be crowned the Knights Champion. Players which are knocked out in day 2 are still eligible for other awards (e.g. Tri-Man). Tri-Man (Best Overall) The Tri-Man is the Best Overall award that people are familiar with in the current 40k tournament system. Best overall consist of 60% Battle Points, 40% Painting score. To be the Tri-Man, you will need to have a nicely painted army, be a nice person, and win more games than losses. Dropping a game or two is unlikely to have a major impact to your chance at the Tri-Man. In 2012, players will be group into a 4 divisions (see below) on Day 2. This will produce closer games and ensures that the Tri-Man award will be a battle to the end. Masters (Best Painting) In 2012, Event Horizon will have three different awards for painting with the total painting scores consisting of 50% army painting scores and 50% single model scores. Master of the Art is the award for the best army painter as determined by the Paint Judges. To win this award, every model in the army is painted to a very high quality showing skills across a variety of models. Master of the Craft is the award for the best single miniature (painting and conversion). Players will nominate a single model from their army to be judged for this award. The winning model will be the best painted and/or converted model at the event. Natural Selection is the players’ choice. At the start of Day 2, players will put their army on display with the award going to the army that has the most votes. White Knight (Best Sportsman) White Knight is the best sportsman who will be smiling through think and thin. It is likely that you will still be laughing even when he is trouncing your army. At the end of each day, players will be required to nominate one player they had played on the day as the best sportsman. The player with the highest score will be crowned the White Knight. Divisions At the end of Day 1, players will be grouped together to play against each other on Day 2. There will be 4 divisions and players will be grouped by the following method, (Division A) Top 8 players by win/lose record and then by Battle Points. (Division B) Players with 2/1 record (Division C) Players with 1/2 record (Division D) Players with 0/3 record The divisions are designed to have players with similar skills playing each other. This creates closer games and friendly competition within the group. Division also creates an even playing field for the Tri-Man award. With some player in Division D going 3/0 on Day 2, it still gives them a realistic chance of taking the Tri-Man award. -------------------- EVENT HORIZON 40k
