Welcome to Warcast Episode 3!

Once again Aaron, James and Shayne are here to talk about how awesome Warmachine and Hordes is. We begin with our recent findings in the world of Warmahordes and the recent flux of interest in Australian wargaming! We talk of the ups and downs of Winning and Losing and player and scene development. This week we bring you a new segment, ASK WARCAST! We take your questions from the facebook page and discuss them on the show, so get on the facebook and ask us anything you want to know! Our Model Spotlight this week is the Khador Warcaster pButcher, and the topic of the week is how to use Arc nodes to keep your warcasters safe. The topic of online rankings is also discussed, and though we all are fairly strong advocates, we'd like to hear your sides of the story too! Love it or hate it, hop on the facebook, give us your opinions or questions on ANYTHING WARMACHINE and we're happy to hear about it, and talk about it! Help us build the warmachine community, and most importantly, enjoy the show and have fun playing!

Don't forget to join our Facebook group either!

-Aaron, James and Shayne

Got about halfway through today guys, glad you're still having a blast. Keep in mind Warmachine's not exactly new though, I know we've had a big influx and lots of players lately, but it kinda sounds at times like the country as a whole has only just discovered it, and we've really had a great core for many years.

You talk about people like Skell like they're prodigies on an empty field, when we've got people that playtested the original game before it went into print ten years ago, veterans who've recently been on hiatus but played masterfully for many before that, and PG's like Morsla, Juffo Wup, and Jyggdrassil that were running events the same size we get now for half the last decade.

Don't give all them foreign listeners the idea we're all "Duhh, whatmachine?" wink.gif

So I've been hearing that Skell is a prodigy! Someone should probably start a thread to discuss this.

Great podcast guys. I had another listen to the p butch.segment again and can't help but feel you missed his main strength. I have used the big fella a fair bit and I can safely say he loves jacks. Not the usual suspects but those jacks you see little of. In 35pt I usually run my standard infantry clearing and assininating units, deathstar and kayazy aswell as gorman, I think you would agree run very well with butch. This leaves me plenty of points for wnat I call the butch trio, juggsr and 2 zerkers. Thats 3 heavies that I can piece trade with in addition to the other infantry. That is a massive advantage. Add the battlegroup spell, fury and the feat to that equation I rarely need to allocate any focus to have my jacks wreck face. When I go to 50pts I chuck in a forth jack, the kodiak and the great bears, at this point the sheer number of heavies becomes to much for most armies to deal witn while making even more use of butchers signaturr jack spell.

He is an awesome caster that has little need for our favoured character jacks, which is awesome considering the scenes move towards charater restrictions.

Cheers

Ps. Skell is a warmahordes god!

I did find it somewhat ironic that you had khador / pbutcher then had arc nodes as a main topic.

Also yeah, I agree you guys missed alot of things in regards to butcher. 1 is what was stated above. 2 khador has alot more then just the WGI to put IF on, and with pbutcher you want to run offisive units like IFP or kayazy (have i mentioned that kayazy are def 19 in combat with IF).

pButcher works well with 2 jacks imo, the best being beast and the kodiaks as you stated because their focus efficient.

Also you completely forgot (except Aaron) that khador has a Merc UA in Valachev to make them friendly faction, meaning you can get units like nyss hunters, boomhowlers etc etc under his feat aswell, and also cast IF on them.

Thanks guys,

From my experience with dealing with butcher, or Jacks in General in comparison with hordes, is that the more focus you can feed them, the better (duh). The amount of times I have seen a jack go in and try to wreck face on a beast only being able to do about 2/3 of its health is countless, compared to the flexibility a beast has in simply buying more attacks (ala scytheans, earthborns, molik etc). Its all well and good to be able to hit accurately, but damage is just as important if not much more. Maybe that or I'm just a bias hordes player tongue.gif Regardless, when I have played him in Canberra, Since he is only 6 focus, he cant effectively feed more than 2 jacks and really needs to be supported by the rest of his army (i.e. great bears, IFP's, Kayazay etc etc).

Of course I'm only skimming the surface here, but we were just trying to give a brief rundown of mr pbutch, and yes russ, I have played Jamie's Def 19 Kayazay quite a few times, we were doing a Butcher rundown where we explained fury + anything = awesome, not an iron flesh run down. (P.s. hear they love eruption of spines and bethaynes animus? tongue.gif Trollface) Old mate valachev is a good one too, especially with nyss.. being able to aim, shuffle 3 inches and then shoot is great for the aiming bonus too. We touched on him briefly.

As said, none of us are khador players (although one day I may be). We had ALOT of requests for us to have a look at Warmachine over hordes and alot of noobies asking where to start with khador imparticular, so we just wanted to do a rough look at pButch and I think we achieved that smile.gif

We have a few guests, sponsors and music lined up for the next one, including the Khador King mr Jamie Perkins has agreed to do a show, so we are trying to cover all our bases smile.gif Stoked you've enjoyed it so far and thanks for your kind words.

James

The big thing that seemed to be missed for mine was that the feat affects ranged attacks, not just melee. There was a big focus on weaponmasters (and I agree, 5D6 is awesome), but the great thing about pButch is that a lot of the CRAs from winterguard, shots from Destroyers, Behemoth etc all get an additional die, so a bombard from a jack can be 4D6 + 14 damage. That will kill casters dead as if you can engineer a knockdown somehow.

I did mention the gun carriage?

Guys we are not claiming to be ultimate Khador experts nor did we say we were going to try and cover every detail. This is warmachine, there millions of different ways you can do things and endless possibilities.

We plan on having guests on to go into detail, whilst also covering some basics for noobies smile.gif
