Lol. The latest update of the FoGN v2 draft (dated 3 Feb 2018) has just been emailed out. This version will be used for the upcoming HX IV event.

Here’s a summary of the main things we’ve fixed:

· Redoubts – are about the same size and have the arc of fire of a normal unit. They are as tough as ever to fight but no longer put out “death-star” style fire. They can only be taken with Positional Defence and units are deployed in them at deployment and cannot voluntarily leave them. In compensation, they now only cost 10 points. In the v2 lists, armies that are allowed them, will only be allowed one.

· Accordingly, immobile artillery will no longer be a thing. Armies that currently have them, will be allowed redoubts instead.

· Artillery attachments to artillery units have been causing confusion vs large artillery units so we’ve dropped them. You want 3 base artillery units, go large!

· Heavy artillery attachments therefore are also dropped (as they could only be attached to artillery units).

· Ottoman Sipahis are not well represented in the existing troop types – they should be enthusiastically charging irreg light cav, not poor heavy cav. Tougher than Cossacks, but weaker than heavy cav. So we’ve split irreg LC into Irreg LC Skirmish (think Cossacks) and Irreg LC (like Hussars, but make CMTs, etc like conscripts). This will allow us to better model Sipahis, and also similar troop types in a couple of new lists we’re planning for v2 (Persians to fight Russians and Marathas to fight British in India). And as a hint of our intent for some new lists we’ve added a line in the terrain options for India and America…

· Echelon moves are removed as they have been causing lots of angst and are played differently by everyone – take an extra 10 seconds and measure those double wheels!

· And we’ve cleaned up the wording on wheeling in the charge to make sure we say what we mean!

· Envelopment is the most under-used strategy. It’s now a little more appealing as you now only need a minimum of one division on flank march.

· To reflect how everyone plays it anyway, we’ve simplified the rules for replacing a lost commander – from half a page to 3 lines.

Cheers.

Lists should be flowing by now. Don't forget your redoubt. Weigh it up however. Static immobile position vs big gunline and some degree of mobility. armata_PDT_34.gif

Will post the Cards Blinds pdf (applicable to both the Ravenna and Klimke scenarios) Saturday for those attending. Fairly straightforward.

Any more lists? A little over a week to go. Looking forward to it.

Don't forget the Blinds Card pdf is due out this Saturday and Sunday. And possibly Monday After that, link will be closed. It's no different to the usual blind card speil. Just go with the flow on this one.

Finally, Quarterstaff issue #14 is now out. Decided to release these every fifteen of the month from now on. There, I made a decision and I'm sticking with it. biggrin.gif

Just a reminder that these cards will be supplied so lists need to be correct. Last minute changes can be accommodated but needs to be sent through this weekend or during the week. Cutoff date is Friday 1900 hrs.

Cheers. Now for a random meme. Enjoy!

Regrettably, due to last-minute pullouts (funny how it all comes at you at once), I am canning the upcoming HX IV event indefinitely. Don't worry, it'll make a return in the new year, possibly revamped. Thanks again to those who made the effort. Refunds are on their way to those who've paid.

Also thanks to those other events wanting to use this sub-forum which I seemed to have hijacked. Your patience and tolerance has been noted, remembered. And not forgot. Cheers.
