Hey guys, was my 1st event, so really happy with my placing 18th.
Had a great weekend with all games needing me to fully concentrate.
Thanks to Simon and Group North for hosting the event and also thanks to those behind the scenes that organised (Sponsors, cooks, advertisers, players etc.)

Anyway once again had a great time and look forward to seeing you all next year, already planning a new army!

Results sent off to Rankings HQ.

I am happy witht he balance this year and was pleased with players playing to the time limit of 2.5 hours. I forsee very little if any change for next year.

Now to start organising Redemption.

QUOTE(Charlie_W @ Feb 8 2012, 04:23 PM) *

This is a tournament, not a painting contest,..

Agreed, I ran the same army with the same models two weeks in a row. At CanCon I got 48/60 for painting and this weekend I got 10/10. Again more subjective stuff that the comps can do without. I like the tick the box format for painting scores with all basic areas of painting a wargaming army covered. As long as an army is painted the owner should not be penalised severly because they are not at the 'Eavy Metal standard. The uber painters get their opportunities in the players choice. Tournaments need to be more about battle points and achieving missions and less on the soft scores. I noticed that no-one has disagreed with my comments about 'no comp' as yet, only the mission format.

QUOTE(ru486baby @ Feb 7 2012, 11:15 PM) *

I disagree, 3-2 is perfectly balanced. Making it 4-1 or 5-0 will only help strong MSU style lists ( like the top 4 placing lists )
Keep it as it is.

@ru486baby explain why you think that more objective based games helps the power lists.

Comparing differently marked formats from two different tourneys doesnt really work

he's saying they will benefit armies with large amounts of scoring units, which will limit what shows up on the day, not so much the power lists.

Rule book is 2-1, objectives to K.P, Dauthus is 5-2.
I assume by power lists you are referring to "rock" or K.P denial lists.
I dont think they are (the power lists) ,but by making it even more in favour of objectives
then it favours MSU even more. The top 3 or 4 lists could be called MSU.
If you push the missions one way or the other it makes it easier to game the system.
As a side note I had 15kp and I won both kp missions (Tabled both of them)

2 x KP missions
2 x Objective missions
1 x The draw mission

I don't see how it could get any fairer than that?

Missions are perfect, deployment perhaps needs work. Specifically, less dawn of war deployment!

Just viewed my ranking had a good jump up the list.
Missions were fine, no complaints.
Time was good, completed all my games, some up to 7 turns, never felt rushed.

Hi Simon, you misspelt my name - Phillips has 2 L's.

If you're able to fix it in RankingsHQ somehow that would be nice!

Thanks.

Look at the lists that finished up the top. You'll see high KP totals and lots of Troops units in most of those builds. More Objective missions benefits these MSU builds even more, and MSU is already stronger than Rock so it doesn't need more help.
