How are people enjoying it?

From the tiny bit I have played, it feels just like the previous game but with lots of new goodies. Of course I cant get through the first mission at the moment due to constant crashes so my impression of the game is pretty low unsure.gif

inb4 potato computer comments - 980ti and a decent machine to support it.

Anyone else able to actually play?

Fark yeah it's good. A bit frustrating because I have to relearn stuff and get the hang of the new stuff.

Like enemy officers having NADES from the very start.

Running a 960 atm, gets 30-40fps on medium.. poorly optimised as I have heared.

Loading in or out of a mission also takes forever (on fast SSD). Took 0-1s on xcom1.

No crashes at all.

Mine crashes constantly, but may be due to my older GTX670s in SLi not able to handle it

Pretty sure my constant crashes are due to my corrupted hard drive heh.

Still, managed to get through 3 missions, it's pretty good! Charging in with the ranger and hacking aliens apart is hella fun!

Don't know that my potato laptop is going to run it all after some of the comments I've been seeing sad.gif

I might just find a less-than-legal copy to find out before I buy.

Then buy xcom1 off ebay then for $18 (all DLC included), some UK seller. On steam the same pack is about $22 when on special.

I haven't had the crashes or super bad lag that I've heard/read about, and my computer setup isn't top end.

Game itself is good, lots of great little touches. New enemies are well varied and have forced some changed tactics from me (goddamn stun lancers).

I find the campaign map to have a lot (almost too much) going on - supply drops, making resistance contacts, targets of opportunity, resupplying back at HQ etc. Seems like a replacement for the three missions at a time choice from XCOM.

If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight. Sun Tzu said that. And i'd say he knows a little more about fighting than you do pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honour.

Then he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one.

And from that day forward, any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo. Unless it's a farm.

It's no more demanding than the first? Great cause I know I can run that.

Only had one crash here, its been really solid as far as reliability goes, its just poorly optimised from a performance standpoint.

Lots of fun - but having the Avatar meter more than half full 24/7 is really taking it out on my squaddies - so many nasty enemies showing up, often 2-3 groups at a time.

I've been getting some serious laggy voiceovers but I put that down to running on a really basic lappy.

I've played enough of my unofficial demo to know I'll definitely by plopping some cash down next pay day.

I imagine it will be no more demanding once they patch it but right now I'm <30 fps at times.

It is more demanding than the first for sure. At the moment it's poorly optimised in various ways so performance takes a bigger hit.

Xcom1 on an SSD runs like a dream, missions load in less than 1.5 seconds etc. In Xcom2 it takes well over TEN seconds to load into a mission or go back to base (loading the base).

But having said that, it may still be ok if you turn it down to the bare minimum settings..

10 seconds would be amazing compared to what I was getting - two minutes at least for each transition.

I'm due an upgrade this year and maybe the bugs will be fixed by then.

A word of warning, don't save your game while in a battle that involves Chryssalids. There is a bug where if you save your game in that scenario then the game crashes and trying to load any of those saves, even autosaves, crashes the game. Apparently it's caused by burrowing Chryssalids.

Hi

I love this game, its a great follow up to the first one.

Missions are pretty hard, its a challenge all right, those pesky shape shifters can give y a nasty surprise so bringing the scanner "grenade" is a must! Snipers a so cool and the custom options to customize/create your own team members is great - a few more languages would be nice to and Nat.flags would have been grand.

(Steam Workshop (Free Mods) already has some very nice content).

No crashed - I did go buy a GTX960 2GB card to enjoy the highest settings - so many nice effects it looks so much better but does require alot of your Hardware.

(I have a GTX560 2GB for sale if anybody needs a cheap upgrade).

Enjoy Joseph

I had a bug after coming back from one particular mission where all the game timers screwed up - all my projects went past 0 and were into -5 or -10 days remaining, and all the alien timers suddenly hit at once (+avatar multiple times in a row, 2-3 simultaneous dark events, etc).

Fixed by reloading a save game near the end of the last mission and completing it again.

These are the mods i'm using atm, really good QOL stuff (and one cosmetic). I highly recommend getting them (I use steam workshop). Just subscribe and it will update automatically, then select mods on the launcher.

* Show Health Values - this shows a number at the end of health bars.
* Evac All - move all dudes to evac and hit one button to evac all at the same time.
* Overwatch All - same as above, except for overwatch.
* Quiet, Bradford! - first 3 civilian deaths do not make him flap his mouth.
* Stop Wasting My Time - removes a range of necessary pauses.
* Capnbubs Accessories Pack - cosmetic stuff.

I believe if you save a game with mods, you can only play that with the mods activated. So choose your mods carefully. That's why I only have one cosmetic mod atm.

The three "official" mods are all good too.

SMGs, Muton Centurions, Leader Skill.

Played a little more yesterday and I've only got two things to add: Null Lance is amazing and f**k Gatekeepers!

And I thought Codexes were annoying....
