hi guys, I just finished this one - it was a commission job I've been working on. The client wanted an iron warriors lord based on the techmarine mini. He had some pretty specific things in mind, so a lot of the components and design of the conversion, plus the freehand symbols and placement of the yellow stripes etc., was decided by him. But I had freedom with the rest
A lot of the colouring on the metals was done using soft pastels - like pigments. It's an easy way to add a lot of colour and texture to different parts, and it's pretty easy to use - it's easy to get off if you screw up as well hehe, which is always good. http://www.coolminiornot.com/155653 ![]() -------------------- |

Now that's what I imagined an Iron Warriors marine would look like. Great work, as usual.

It sucks when you can't tell a light effect apart from a) the actual lighting and

thanks guys, I'm glad that you like it
lickar - the effect on the pipes is nothing complex, it was simply painted with a turquoise colour at first, then gradually the colour lightened until almost pure white in the centre of the stream where the liquid is most thick. It's the extreme contrast of the pure white that gives things that 'glowing' look. -------------------- |

My only criticism is with the pose/base... he looks like he's striding forward blithely ignoring the fact he's about to run out of ground. Go back and do the whole thing again ;-p

Love the mini. Fantastic work. The base though, does this guy really have an entire army based like that?? Then industrial look of the IW really should be off set by something else on the bases. the model gives me a feel as though he is 'of to work'. as opposed to 'off to kick some ass'.
Thats a servitor head though yeah?? -------------------- 'I see lead people'

Awesome work there mate!
Tartanarmy, Im pretty sure thats the Mail Order Techmarine, and the standard head... helps having one sitting on the desk in front of me Just one question, How come you didnt leave any of the Servo-Arms attached? seems a bit of a shame to have such a huge backpack and Servo-Arms as standard, and not have at least 1 Cheers, Tom -------------------- SA 40k Tournament Information Database

I just can't work out what that lump on top of the banner pole is, the miniature looks pretty great though.

yes, it's the sprinkler head of doom! Or maybe it's like the Joker's flower that shoots acid or something haha...
ACtually the client wanted some sort of communications dish, like a radar dish or transmitter or whatever...so it's meant to be something like that. And why no servo-arms from the backpack? Well, I thought that with the arms, it might look too much like a techmarine, you know? Plus I think the arms would make the miniature unbalanced and top-heavy looking, from an aesthetic point of view...especially with the banner pole behind, which was also something specifically requested by the client. I did also have an ulterior motive though - I absolutely HATE those arms, both the way they look and are sculpted, and to paint - a nightmare to paint for me haha. -------------------- |
