As we wait for MAD Ass Season 2 to launch later in the year, how will people get their DreadBall fix? Introducing: MAX Mayhem!

What?! You expect a League Sponsor to schedule your games? Schedule your own damn games! You want a pitch free of cargo crates, energy pylons and explosive traps? Sounds like someone's scared of permanent disfigurement! Boohoo! You expect players to live through more than one game? Get real!! This isn't your usual DreadBall; this is XTREME!!

Rather than have a Season Draw, MAX Mayhem is completely ad hoc. There are two Coaches with teams ready to play? Get your rush on! The only rule is that Coaches cannot play the same opponent twice in a row. That's it!

Instead of having my oh-so-pretty League Sheet, I'll help track each Coach's Sponsor through this thread. To allow people to just "dip their toe" in the League, we'll have Blaine and The Warden available for all FCGG casual Coaches. As other Coaches create Sponsors for MAX Mayhem!, I'll add them to this thread. To create a Sponsor you need:
- a name
- background
- their list of groups
All of this can be found for free in the DBX Player's Manual, available from Mantic Games for free!

Coach: Bubbastis
Sponsor: Ria Jadaxa
Background: Ria has built quite a reputation as a brutal yet effective smuggler, and part time "cleaner",that has seen her "talents" employed by both sides.of the law. Her no questions asked or tolerated has placed her in contact with seriously brutal scum on the streets and the Nobel houses of most alien races. As such Ria is viewed with suspicion by the corporation and tends to spend her time in seedy bars, which has gained her many contacts who would normally be comfortable in jails or working on doors.....or "collecting" debts for loan sharks.
Groups: Alien, Psycho, Guard, Pirate, +1 Rank
Rank: 7
Cash: 101mc

Coach: Hipcat
Sponsor: Kal Jezzard
Background: Captured in a Corporation assault on the Reb stronghold of Crastor's Glee, Jezzard has served his time in several GCPS penal colonies. After leading a successful prison riot that saw the Long Fal Penitentiary fall to its inmates, Jezzard has re-established his connections to the Rebs movement. His Xtreme games allow potential Rebs soldiery to train in violence under the guise of DreadBall, while funneling the proceeds from his matches to support the uprising! Vive la revolution!
Groups: Cunning, Rebel, Convict, Vicious, Outcast
Rank: 6
Cash: 118mc

Coach: Anyone
Sponsor: Blaine
Background: Blaine is the most feared and wanted criminal in the GCPS. His crimes are always audacious, large scale,
and almost unfailingly embarrassing for the Council. He is one of the few individuals in the whole of the GCPS with a permanent standing Kill/Capture order on his head with every Enforcer fleet in the galaxy, as well as the highest private bounty ever offered by the Council. And yet, none have come close to fulfilling either as yet.

His reputation ensures that he is highly sought after on the DBX circuit, and that no player turns down the opportunity to play for him if offered. His teams tend to be eclectic, mixing different species and player types dependent on his mood at the time. Currently he seems to favour Kalyshi mercenaries, though quite why this is, nobody has been brave enough to ask.
Groups: Alien, Pirate, Vicious, Psycho, Big Picture
Rank: 5
Cash: 70mc

Coach: Anyone
Sponsor: The Warden
Background: Overseeing the incarceration of some of the most dangerous criminals in the GCPS is not a career that lends itself well to longevity. To survive, you must be as dangerous as those you control, and none are more feared than Warden Rasulov.

It is common practice for Wardens to guard their identities – they are men with families and loved ones after all – but Rasulov either has nobody or simply isn’t worried, and to be fair, either is a possibility. His brutality is legendary, and he is feared almost as much by his own colleagues in the penal system as by the prisoners themselves.

Rasulov’s teams heavily favour convicts, though his particularly sadistic nature means that their makeup is often varied, with dangerous psychotics playing alongside tax evaders and petty thieves. Rasulov is never especially forthcoming about his reasoning on anything, but it is suspected that he sees DreadBall Xtreme less as a sport and more as simply another rung of punishments available to the penal system…
Groups: DreadBall, Convict, Greedy, Vicious, Cunning
Rank: 5
Cash: 71mc

There's only one adjustment that I'll make to the existing rules for MAX Mayhem!. Each MVP will cost the Coach some "Extras" to hire. The first MVP chosen for a game will cost 1 Extra, the second will cost 2 Extras, the third will cost 3 Extras, etc. This is so see the grunts die in droves, rather than a continual class of DreadBall kings!

Get your Sponsors in if you're keen to play. There's no minimum or maximum number of games; only pure mayhem!

Everyone starts with 70mc, and you can spend between 50mc and 70mc when hiring your team for each match. You receive 70mc at the end of each match, plus money from Wagers, Winning Bonus, etc.

Hi all! I've put together a little guide for casual Coaches to hire players, as well as some extra tracking. You can check it our here under "Available Players". If other people want to create a Sponsor for MAX Mayhem, post it up and I'll integrate their details into the sheet.

It should be noted that this is a work-in-progress, of course.

Thanks very much to Bubba for a couple of great games yesterday! As well as our first outing on my new 4x4 DZC table (with monorail), we also got in the first game of MAX Mayhem!.

IPB Image

After cobbling together the warehouse arena, Ria Jadaxa (Bubbastis) opened with 4 Marauder Guards! Kal Jezzard (Hipcat) responded in kind: 2 Thugs, a Runner and a Con. With the arena strewn with booby trapped crates and each of the Convict players wearing an explosive collar, it's even money whether a brutal pounding or sudden explosion will be the death of each contestant!

IPB Image IPB Image

Ria started to maneuvre her Orx and Zees into position, and ran a Sphyr Striker to successfully retrieve the ball. Kal Jezzard successfully convinced one of the Cons to open a crate, which promptly exploded in his face knocking him down. One of the Thugs sprinted the length of the pitch, intent on Marauder blood! He successfully injured an Orx Guard, but let his concentration slip for a vital second: that Marauder had three friends... A brutal blow from behind killed the Thug with a single Slam.

A sudden beeping awoke the downed Con from his reverie. He staggered to his feet, and with Kal's urging, ran to where the Orx stood gloating over the smeared remains of the Thug. The beeping quickened in pace as the Con realised where the sound was coming from... With a thunderous detonation, the Con's collar exploded killing two Marauders and causing a Zee to slowly bleed out for the rest of the game. All that was of the Con was a scorch mark on the warehouse floor that was swiftly awash with blood.

Seizing the initiative, Kal held the centre with a Gaelian, while sending his Rin Nomad through the newly created gap to pound the Sphyr Striker. Despite four flailing Rin arms, the Sphyr successfully danced away. Ria decided it was time to grab the lead, and sprinted the Striker into the opposing Strike Zone: a spin, a flourish, and Ria's team hit the lead with three points.

Not to be outdone, the remaining Thug pounded the Sphyr into the warehouse floor in revenge for the successful Strike while Kal's Ralarat Striker hopped onto the pitch, seized the ball, ran straight at the line of Marauder Guards, and leapt straight over their heads! A quick hop into the Strike Zone and the scores were level once more!

The Orx smashed back through the middle in retaliation, intent upon the Gaelian and the remaining Con. Once more a resounding BOOM echoed across the pitch, knocking back the rampaging Marauder Guard and flooring the nearby Zees: another Explosive Collar had been activated.

IPB Image IPB Image

The Convict Runner retrieved the new ball and launched it to the Ralarat Striker still standing in Ria's backfield. Snaring the ball out of the air, the Ralarat had time to line up another 3 point Strike. Kal Jezzard had hit the lead! Ria Jadaxa, however, had had enough of the Ralarat camping in her Strike Zone; a lone Marauder peeled off from the pack and squished the amphibian into a gooey puddle. With the Sphyr unable to escape the clutches of the Thug, Ria's scoring options were limited. The Rin Nomad managed to kill another Marauder Guard after they were brought down with a random piece of loose electric wiring, while the remaining Convict Runner ran in a last 2 point Strike before the final whistle.

The final reckoning:
a 5pt win to Kal Jezzard
4 kills to Ria
4 kills to Kal Jezzard

Ria advanced one rank to Rank 7 and emerged with 101mc. Kal remained at Rank 5 and held only 98mc.

Who's next?!

Awesome! Let me know your sponsor details when you're ready, and I'll add them to the line up.
