FROM THE TO:

Southern Inquisition will be run under the current edition of the rules, as will the other tournys being run around this time.

The three games will be book missions but with bonus points each game involving the deeds of your inquisitor (and stopping the enemy inquisitor). Win/Draw/Loss will be 20/14/8 with 5 bonus points. Each game will therefore total 25 points for a total of 75

In addition to a standard 1500 point army you will need to bring a model to represent your inquisitor. He will be a standard stat line Inquisitor from the Grey Knights codex and his wargear will be selected from a series of option boxes on the day. For example there will be a box containing a number of 10 point options and you can choose one of these options. Another box will contain a range of 15 points options and so on. I will post the full range of options prior to the tourny and a sheet will be provided on the day with all the rules for the wargear.

All Inquisitors will have power armour and a 5+ Uncanny Reflexes Invulnerable Save.

There will be a painting score out of 10.

More from the TO

Sports will be 5 points per game. There will be no comp score as such BUT taking an over the top army is (in my opinion - and I am the TO) bad sportsmanship and therefore the sports scoring will reflect this. Don't get too fixated on this - if a good opponent can give your army a challanging game with the outcome not obvious from the outset your army is fine.

Basically a normal 1500 point force fights a mission from the rulebook. The Inquisitor is an extra model added to your force.

Each game will have a secondary mission for the Inquisitor to achieve (in conjunction with your normal army) that will provide bonus points. Even if you lose the game you can still get the bonus points for your Inquisitor mission.

For example a loss with full bonus points will garner you 1 point less than a draw with no bonus points.

The Inquisitor missions will be simple and will not impact on the main scenario to any major extent. There is a narrative covering the Inquisitor that unfolds over the course of the three games that simply adds a bit of colour and fun to an otherwise standard game.

Hope to see you there

Norm

There will be no comp as such but part of the sports scoring will include the facility to downgrade the score if your opponent has taken an obviously overpowered army - ie doing so is poor sportmanship.

Re 15 thunderwolves.

Not necessarily - are independant characters also mounted on thunderwolves and if so what gear do they have, what other units are in the army that multiply their effectiveness, what gear options do they have are just some of the things to consider.

15 thunderwolves with a few upgrades with 2 kitted out characters on thunderwolves would be 1100-1200 points so after adding 2 troops choices there would be little or nothing else in the army.

Therefore an enemy could concentrate against each unit in turn or against the troops if there are objectives to capture/hold. My view would therefore be that it is not overpowered. There may be some force builds that cannot deal with them in some codexes but that is not the point - most armies should be able to put up a decent fight.

8 wolves in 2 units of 4, each with an IC also on a wolve, backed up by numerous support units would be a far more difficult option to combat and could well be considered overpowered.

The annoucement at the top of this tread - advised 5th edition for this event, this seems to be consistent with other 40K events in August

Total painting score will be 10 points out of 100 in total. There will be points for all models painted and armies with less than half the models painted will not score painting points. So if you just have one squad unfinished you will just miss out on the points for having all models painted. If you have one beautifully painted and detailed squad but the rest of the army is undercoated at best then no points.

We are running the tourny to 5th ed rules to be consistant with other tournies in August and to keep the playing field level for the majority of players that will not get more than a couple of 6thed games (if any) in before the tourny.

The next tourny after this at Southern Wargamers will use 6th ed.

Good to see we are back on track as originally planned and advertised.
So a good opportunity to have one last bash at 5th Edition.
Hope to see as many along as possible to enjoy the day.
Cheers
