Finished off the mortar, I probably should have taken the pic with the crew but oh well.

IPB Image

I have spent a bit of time working on Marius Leitdorf, still just putting the base colours in, but so far so good.

@mightymouse - Thanks mate biggrin.gif

Managed to get a solid painting session in last night and made some good progress.

First off Marius Leitdorf, managed to finish him off last night, that is except for the base. I don't think the pictures really do him justice, but I can't be bothered going through the whole process with my camera, so my iPhone will have to do for the moment.
IPB Image
IPB Image

Also made a good start on a generic Hero character that will be placed into my foot units. Depending on the game of course, but while on display will live with the Reiksguard unit. Also in a spur of inspiration I made a start on another Hero, this one will be riding a Pegasus.
IPB Image

Once these are done I'm going to paint up another unit of 8 Tilean crossbowmen

Finished off basing Marius Leitdorf last night. I am happy with how the figure has turned out, although again my dodgy iPhone has let me down with some substandard pics sad.gif

Also managed to finish off the pegasus for my hero, again I am happy with the result as it was a fairly simple painting method. The rider shouldn't be too far off, he's sitting on the painting table ready to go biggrin.gif

Smashing them out.

Too bad you didnt have the correct peg rider legs. He looks slightly dwarfish as a result.

Overall though mate the army is looking great. Love those old figs. It must have cost you an absolute fortune to get hold of them. Too bad im in qld. They would be a great middlehammer army to play against sometime.

Cheers mate, I've had a good run of painting lately, so I've managed to get a lot done, which is very unusual. I actually didn't realise the legs for the pegasus rider are the wrong ones, I bought it some time ago and its been sitting in a box for way too long. Oh well, at least its painted now biggrin.gif

I suppose the army has cost a bit to build up, some parts I already had from the original version. Particularly the foot Reiksguard, Winged Lancers (yet to paint) and War Wagon were the pricey ones. Its a bit hard to say how much the whole army has cost me, I am probably being in denial about the total cost armata_PDT_08.gif

Just a small update, unfortunately no pics this time sad.gif . I have been working on the Elector Count of Ostland, so far still working on getting the base colours in, he is a little trickier to paint than Marius Leitdorf so progress has been a little slow. Will hopefully get some more done tonight, if I do I'll chuck some WIP pics.

I have managed to finish off the Elector Count of Ostland, this is a figure that I have always wanted to paint. I did actually have this figure in my original Empire army, which must have been in the early 90's. I never painted it though, as I thought my painting ability was not up to the task. I'm not game to attempt any freehand designs on the horses barding, so for me it is now complete biggrin.gif

I have managed to get a decent amount done on my next figure, which is the army's Battle Standard bearer, Ludwig Schwartzhelm. I have already washed him with some Army Painter ink, so its really just highlighting now.

Got a little more brush time tonight and finished of Ludwig Schwarzhelm, well still need to finish off the base.

Managed to start on the next figure. I've really enjoyed working on individual miniatures lately, so I've continued the theme and this time I've gone for a mounted Amethyst Wizard, which is my 2nd favourite college of magic (Grey magic is my favourite).

Also in the painting cue is another unit of 8 crossbowmen, the Grand Theogonist is also kicking around as well.

This doesn't happen very often, but I have ended up with a day and an evening to myself (wife and kids are staying in the city with family). So I have managed to get a lot of painting done biggrin.gif

Finished Ludwig Schwarzhelm
IPB Image

IPB Image

I also managed to finish off the mounted Amethyst wizard. I wasn't game to paint any freehand symbols, but I think it looks fine as it is.
IPB Image

IPB Image

Made a start on Kurt Helborg, I only realised after the last post that I hadn't painted him up yet
IPB Image

I also put together a rank of Winged Lancers. These figures are an absolute pain to glue, almost glued my fingers together in the process armata_PDT_04.gif

Cheers Chaplain Fortis biggrin.gif I'm enjoying spending some time working on individual figures at the moment.

Bit of an update on Kurt Helborg, managed to get all the base colours done last night and slapped on some wash. Even managed a get a few small areas highlighted, another good painting should finish him off. Despite the fact that I have undercoated some Winged Lancers, as I'm still keen to paint up individual figures, I got out a mounted Grey Wizard and undercoated him last night.

I managed a short painting session in today and finished off Kurt Helborg. Again I didn't go for the freehand design stuff, but I did find my decal stash from the shed and there were a couple that would work nicely.

Also a WIP pic of the mounted Grey Wizard. Not the most amazing pic, but it is a start biggrin.gif

Cheers mate biggrin.gif As you would know Grey magic is one of my favourites, so it was about time that I should have the mounted version painted up. I would like to eventually paint up the mounted and foot version of all the Empire battle wizards. Could be a while until that is done armata_PDT_08.gif

Unfortunately holidays are over, so its back to work I go. Although I have managed a little painting time this week. I have managed a knock up a few banners, using my google fu powers and paint, I'll post up my efforts when I can take some decent pics of them.

Although I thought I would put up some WIP of the Grey Wizard, this time I thought I'd try and paint some freehand symbols. Of course all feedback is welcome biggrin.gif :

I sent some time sorting out the banners for the army so far. I know my painting skills are not up to the challenge of the very intricate banners, so I thought I'd use technology to create some, particularly the banner for Ludwig Schwarzhelm. Ludwig's banner did prove to be a little more complicated than first expected as there are no images of the exact type online. So using a cropped image of the orginal version of the banner, I added a checked border around and used MS paint to colour some of the yellow sections. I printed it out using a very cheap inkjet printer, so it is quite dull, but I think it works well enough biggrin.gif

IPB Image
IPB Image

Another couple of banners I printed out, although these ones were either scans of the banners in the Empire army book, or from WD 149 (I think it was, there is one with heaps of Empire banners). Unfortunately the banner for my Knight Panthers broke off in the process of getting it out of the display cupboard. So I'll put that one up later.

I also thought I'd put up some pics of the army as it is in the display cupboard. They take up 2 of the 4 shelves so far and are on the cusp of taking up a 3rd shelf.
