Hi All,

Its been approximately 5 or 6 years since I started a new army. And after facing High Elves at DogCon, I got to thinking of my first ever Warhammer army... yes, the pansy skirt wearers!!

Anyways, I did up a test model today, and tomorrow I have over $600 worth of High Elves to pick up from Good Games... so let me know what you think. More pics to come soon!

Test model is from the High Elf Chariot.

P.S. I have played with the light levels in GIMP to try and make these visible. Please let me know if the photo quality is rubbish as well.

Cheers!
Sith.

EDIT: Still need to do silver over the boltgun metal. Also needs additional highlighs of elf flesh over the dwarf flesh. And need to shrink them down a bit! smile.gif

thanks mate, the colour is a bit washed by the photo but as a first ever attempt at photographing miniatures I am quite happy with it smile.gif

The yellow is HARD! Without foundation paints I'd have no chance...

I suck at blending, so anyone who can make a white bow look good is doing OK in my book.
Can't wait to see how th army goes

looks great mate, if you can keep that up over the whole army it will look fantastic.

your back must be improving...

gems and bow look particularly good.

I really hope your going to do big yellow banners, and all the skirts in yellow. armata_PDT_37.gif

i think HE would be the hardest or most challenging army to paint , that model is good man, all the best with it

yeah Horse, back is getting better, I can move today!!! hahaha smile.gif

The skirts wont be yellow, they will be "standard" high elf white, but all the trim and other cloth will be yellow for sure.

dashboard: yeah mate they are difficult, I am finding that I cant be as "messy" as I usually am with my other armies (orcs, dwarfs and vampires)

It looks really good mark, I particularly like the yellow.

The only minor change i would recommend is to try to add more depth to the armour (it could just be the pics). I will have to check it out in the flesh tomorrow.

I'm struggling to understand the relevance of WA mining profits to a discussion about the masters for a toy soldiers game, but thanks for your input.

Thanks mate, yeah I did notice that about the armour as well. I am going to go for 1 maybe 2 more highlights up to mithril silver after what you see above.

You should ask Dodgy dave about painting yellow high elves. He's doing a mad job on GT's.
Drop him a pm for tips (Lister).

Best of luck with the diary!

Nice looking model Mark, the army would look great when its all painted with that theme. I hope to play against these elves when you have the army prepared.

WELL, good news - I have now assembled 24 spearmen, 10 archers, 1 chariot, 4 of my 6 dragon princes, a repeater bolt thrower and both mages.

That only leaves me with the following to assemble (then you guys start to get painting pictures!):

1 repeater
2 eagles
6 ellyrion reavers
18 white lions
1 Noble BSB
5 shadow warriors
2 dragon princes

so I may finish most of the assembly by Friday or at the latest by Saturday. WOO!

When we eventually meet down at good games, we can compare Helf notes. I'll be in tonight for a game, but then probably not for a few weeks (unless I get a last minute pass for Sunday).\

I'll be in tonight for a game though

OK, soooooo I have been really lazy here, but I am nearly done assembling all of the plastics for this army.

I will have pics up of the assembled stuff by the weekend. Some pretty good* conversions in there too.
