The Thrall Harvest is an annual collection of international WarMachine & Hordes tournaments held to raise tinned food for local charities. A Thrall Harvest allows players to make donations of tinned food to change in-game effects, such as re-rolling a die or adding an extra focus to your warcaster, both before and during play. It is a WarMachine & Hordes tournament with a difference – both huge fun and for a good cause

All goods collected will be donated to the Canberra offices of the St Vincent de Paul Society.

Where: The Kriegspielers Gaming Club as held at the Serbian Australian Club - 5 Heard St. Mawson.
When: November 23rd - 10am arrival to donate tins and set up for an 11am start.
Cost: Free, but players must donate a minimum of 5 tins of food.
Bring: Two, 500pt Warmachine or Hordes lists from the same faction.
Prizes: 1st place receives: Privateer Press winners coin, certificate & gold card redemption form. 2nd place receives: Privateer Press 2nd place coin & certificate. 3rd Place receives: Privateer Press 3rd place coin & certificate. In addition, both 1st and 2nd place will receive a TBA amount of store credit from our two, most excellent, sponsors. Finally, the player donating the most tins on the day will receive a special prize.

The event that generates the most cans per person will also be crowned the 2008 Foodmachine Champions and will receive the Foodmachine Trophy (you've seen it in past NQ's) and a plaque to immortalize your city's fame. Results of the Foodmachine event will be compiled in early January and should be in the March NQ release.

Privateer Press is also providing prize support as follows: 1st prize is a 40 inch by 36 inch vinyl Privateer Press Banner given to the person who donates the most canned food items. 2nd prize is autographed posters for each player who played in the event that generated the most cans overall. The store that holds this event will also receive a 40 inch by 36 inch vinyl Privateer Press Banner. 3rd prize is autographed posters for each player in the event that generates the most cans per player. The store that hosts this event will also receive a 40 inch by 36 inch vinyl Privateer Press Banner.

Canberra Thrall Harvest rules...

Players should bring two, 500pt lists from the same Warmachine or Hordes faction.

The tournament will use Steamroller 4 scenarios. Games will run for a maximum of 6 turns or 75 mins, but turns will not be timed.

From 10 to 11am, suitable food items may be exchanged for tickets in the carpark of the Serbian Australia club. There will be a 2nd opportunity to exchange food items for tickets during the lunch break. Although tinned food items are preferred, other suitable food items will be accepted. Such items will be assigned a ticket-value by the organizer making the exchange. For example, a bag of pasta may exchanged for 2 tickets or a large bag of pasta for 3 tickets. The organizer making an exchange has full discretion as what food items are suitable to accept and how many tickets they are worth.

Players may spend their tickets to generate the following effects:

• You may spend 1 ticket to:
Re-roll 1 of your dice during a given turn. Each subsequent time you break this rule, whether for it's for the same die or a different die, the cost to break this rule doubles. For example the 1st re-roll=1 can, 2nd re-roll=2 cans, 3rd re-roll=4 cans, 4th re-roll=8 cans. Your opponent may ‘block’ the reroll before it is made by matching the number of tickets spent.

Re-roll 1 of your dice during a given turn. Each subsequent reroll, whether for it's for the same die or a different die, costs double. For example the 1st re-roll=1 can, 2nd re-roll=2 cans, 3rd re-roll=4 cans, 4th re-roll=8 cans. Your opponent may ‘block’ the reroll before it is made by matching the number of tickets spent.

Force your opponent to re-roll 1 of his/her dice during a given turn. Each subsequent reroll, whether for it's for the same die or a different die, costs double. Your opponent may ‘block’ the reroll before it is made by matching the number of tickets spent.

Remove 1 fury from a warbeast. This fury does not go to your warlock, it simply disappears. You may only break this rule once per round.

Measure the distance between any 2 models on the board at any time.

• You may spend 3 tickets to:
Generate 1 power attack, which is not a charge, without the usual penalties of -2 for a smaller/equal sized target or -4 for a larger target and without paying the usual focus/fury to generate the attack. Each subsequent time you break this rule in a given turn, the cost doubles. A model may only generate a single power attack in this fashion in a given turn.

• You may spend 10 tickets to:
If you win the deployment roll, you may deploy second and go first.

Remove advance deploy from one of your opponents units/models. Decide this after seeing your opponent's list but before the deployment roll..

• You may add a bonus to the deployment roll (cumulative with any other bonuses):

+1 for 2 tins
+2 for 4 tins
+3 for 7 tins
+4 for 11 tins
+5 for 16 tins
+6 for 22 tins
