Hey all,

As above, moving to adelaide around the end of may. Have 2 kids and a mrs with all sorts of hobby jealousy so time for hobby tends to be in short supply. So with that in mind, what clubs are there around with a general north/south sort of orientation as I dont actually know where in the town im gonna be living yet.

I play a bit of 40k but these days im more leaning towards SAGA, AI, mordheim ect and im looking to start playing frostgrave at some point.

Any advice you existing adelaideans can give me would be invaluable.

Cheers, Ronin

Oh no!

I left Brisbane to get away from you! smile.gif

Are you getting posted down here or have you left the green?

Nth side is more active for gaming, there is some south side gaming clubs but up north is where most of the action is.

I know, but im harder to get rid than herpes wink.gif

Hmmm, I have heard the north side is a bit feral, might have to do a bit of travelling.

And yeah im getting posted there. If I had my way id be straight back to brissy. But sadly my pages of reasons I wanted to go there were ignored and I got my third preference.

Cheers man, Ronin

Interesting, Adelaide used to be very hard to get posted to as there arnt many units here.

There is feral everywhere but some nth areas are pretty nasty, try to get close to base though, as much as they try and say that 'traffic is great because they planned the roads before the houses' the reality is that it is crap and the drivers here are inattentive selfish wankers who plod around at 40 in 60 zones.

Demon and HarveyBirdman on here come with the Fortis seal of approval. There's a few others but they don't seem as active these days.

Hi Mate

You have a few options for gaming in Adelaide
Group North out north
Southern Wargamers SW at Brighton
both groups do a wide range of games
both groups are friendly
it just depends where you set up house

Hi Ronin. Aside from the two already mentioned, there is Garrison Wargaming Club in Modbury. They operate on Monday nights and have SAGA as well as 40k. Warmachine/Hordes is the most popular game now, but a fair few other games are played.

--------------------
"It's Tommy this, and Tommy that, And chuck him out the brute,
But it's 'Savior of his Country,' When the guns begin to shoot!
For God and the soldier we adore, In time of danger, not before!
The danger passed, and all things righted, God is forgotten and the soldier slighted."

Rudyard Kipling

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protestor to burn the flag."

Welcome to Adelaide, where we practice quality over quantity for gaming options smile.gif

As the president of Group North I highly recommend the club. We have a large base of active members (over 50 on the books) and cover all the systems you mentioned plus many more. We are only a few minutes from the RAAF/Army base at Edinburgh and have gaming nights on Wednesday plus Friday. We also run competitions across weekends and as we own the venue members are free to open up any other time by arrangement. We have a huge room of quality terrain and plenty of gaming space that doesn't have to get setup/packed away so you come in, grab terrain, play and put the terrain away.

Find some more details about us on www.groupnorth.biz or hang around the Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/330822913717130/

And lots of area in the north is becoming gentrified because of all the army people moving in. Anything with Elizabeth in the names can still be a rough area.

As mentioned there is also Garrison. On base there is a chapter of WW40K. For stores we have The Hobby Matrix at Tea Tree Plaza (a Westfield shopping centre) or Infinity Games in the city proper.

Edit:

This map should make it easy to find what gaming stuff happens in Adelaide.

Cheers for all that guys. Will be a big help when I get there in a few weeks. I have locked myself a house in largs north so I should be in a fairly nice area there, reviews quite well.

Ill probably hit up group north when I can but weekdays can be hard to get away from the house (a very needy mrs with whiney, demanding children does not make missing dinner and bed time a very enjoyable experience, I always pay for it later)

Cheers guys, Ronin

I struggle with that problem often.

A short hop down the Port River Expressway, follow Salisbury Highway and you're almost at the Group North club. A nice easy drive.
