Hi all,

Time to start another army diary - this time, as promised, Sisters of Battle.

The main reasons for starting this diary now are that a) I have all the models for it (bar a meltagunner that I am still trying to source) and cool.gif it stops me from doing those darn Tau... laugh.gif

As for the army list, see Hagen's army post topic thingy

This is the original colour scheme that had been decided upon
user posted image

Armour was Codex Grey with Fortress Grey highlights, and a black wash. Robes = Imperial Purple, lightened off with Bleached Bone for highlights

Problem is that it is was too dark - so the grey armour will be Fortress Grey highlighted with Fortress Grey/White (followed by a black wash). Bone & Green iconography and purple robes to stay (although getting an extra/lighter highlight)... bear in mind also that the photo is a bit dark.

I would have gone for a lighter colour (I tried bone armour) but I quite like the moody darkness of the grey.

I have, for a change, gone straight to a vehicle mounted squad as my first task rather than a character. Below are piccys of the squad and tank after assembly:

The tank is just dryfitted together for show - all separate parts in order to paint up...

(I love the Forgeworld stuff.... tongue.gif )

So hopefully I can start getting some paint on these in the next week as well as starting the assembly of the Exorcists :-o

More to follow...

Cheers
Hagen

Love the moody-ness.
Whats happening on the base?
FYI - I got a spare melta SOB if you need her. She's painted so would need stripping.

Very nice indeed. Tell me, how did you do the metallics - is it just a simple highlight or are you using tamiya smoke for shading?

Mark: Gimme... err... please ;-) tongue.gif

Lachy: The metallics are done just with GW black ink & water - although these days I water it down with the Johnsons Klear/Water mix (that's what I did with the Guard as well).

I do have a pot of Tamiya Smoke in my paint drawer, but have never used it...

As for bases, I will probably do the same as my Guard, in order to be able to mix and match (so rubble/broken tile bases, done in scorched brown drybrushed with bleached bone, with added static grass).

Done Hagen.
Is it urgent?
I'm in Whangarei in 2 weeks so postage would be minimal from there...or are you coming over for Liber and want to collect it?
LMK.

Re: bases...so the red stuff on the base is terracotta tiles, yeah?

Mark,

Not urgent (i.e. I can leave that squad for a couple of months...) - am over for Liber, but may forget to pick it up if I'm not careful... whatever is easist for you ;-)

Tiles on base are the Evergreen Sidewalk styrene sheets, chopped up with a pair of clippers to simulate broken-ness...

Cheers

Cool, PM me your address and I'll post it from Whangarei then just after 25th March (when I fly in). This saves you forgetting, me forgetting and it's cheaper plus no Aussies customs hassels, forms etc.
Seeing as this leaves me with a two weeks up my sleeves...want me to strip it for you?

Choice. I was actually referring to the colour scheme...I didn't think you'd gone out and smashed up your Mum's garden terracotta tiles for a model base...but in hindsight I guess whatever it takes huh? biggrin.gif

Nic eone Hagen, it will be interesting to see how these ladies turn out.

I like that rhino. Forgeworld Bling so does make the model.

Have you painted a sister in the lighter colour schem yet?

Mark: PM on its way... :-)

Jason: I am rapidly finding that the Fortress Grey gives poo coverage... dammit.

To get the coverage you'll need to put down a different colour first, then a couple of thin layers of fortress. Codex should work for that. I have to do a similar thing on my latest army.

Colour scheme looks like it should be good; get some pics up!

Fet/Jason et al: Found a Vallejo Model colour that is pretty much a dead ringer for the Fortress Grey - it's called "Medium Sea Grey" (#870).

And fet, it gives great coverage... no three base coats of grey for me!! :-o

Rhino interior was painted this morning, I'm just going to varnish it... I'll get some more photos up tonight.

Cheers

Ok here are the interior photos...

Internal Roof (I put in some plasticard and made up a screen with buttons of sorts because it would have looked... well... like there was a SoB kit on top of the Rhino...)

Floor & door (exciting, eh ;-))

Interior Right (with Forgeworld thingy)

Interior Left with appropriate slogan

Interior door with Forgeworld icon and appropriate quasi-Latin bastardisation ("Faith Within")

So I reckon that I might be able to get this tank finished in the next few days if I am lucky... keen to start the squad now too since I have a good supply of paint :-)

Looking good, its a nice deep rich red. Scab to Gore with VMC Red for highlights?

The green of the seal wax contrasts well too but the rigting on the door looks a bit...stained?

Jason,

Colour - you've got it tongue.gif

I fixed the door writing up, don't worry about that...

I was painting my VSS tonight to see the new paint scheme (looks good with the lighter grey, esp once I put a black wash over it), and I opened my Imperial Purple to do the robes.......... and found that it had all dried up. Curses. So off to GW tomorrow... :-(

So... might get a test model picture up tomorrow! :-D

Cheers

Back to the rhino now...
