So knights are in then? By this - as the codex will be out prior to the date and they are not lords of war - we can field them?

Pretty sure we are not allowing D weapons of any classification into ATC. You can count that as a no to them.

Interesting - only escalation and strong hold have been banned - knights are a codex released prior to the date selected. No mention of banning D weapons in the players pack either.

Think that needs more discussion to be honest

The player pack was written before knights have been released (still hasn't been released). Until we know the rules we wont have a vote on anything. I think as a player or captain it is safe to assume that we will not be allowing Super Heavies or D Weapons. If the knights codex has options that don't fall into those categories then we may allow it with restrictions, at this stage I haven't read the book, so I can't make a call either way, but that should give you a gut feeling on what the answer will be.

Knights codex is a no

Legion of the damned follow the same rules as the inquisition one as far as how it is used in the codex restrictions

Crimson slaughter is the same as black legion

Not sure if srs, there is literally no reason for that lol...

I have to agree with Reshy here. The codex is GW stock standard and doesn't have any interaction with Escalation or Apocalypse. I'm not sure what other reasons apart from "It has a D weapon" are grounds for this book to be made unavailable.

Rather than flat-out banning the knight codex because of a single letter in a single weapon profile, perhaps there should be more discussion about the implications of having the codex available to teams.

Yeah. With escalation and stronghold assault, people have become far too eager to throw around the ban hammer at things.

We are talking about a game where units like the jetseer council and screamer stat exist. I don't see those things being banned.

Banning forgeworld, sure, that's not technically an official GW released item. However this is a standalone codex released by GW with it's rules entirely anticipated to be used in normal games. No loopeholes, no truly full retard combos. What you see is what you get.

If we start to pick and choose everything in the Game then why do we bother playing. Also at least the power of knights isn't based off a combination of rules and powers that were most likely never meant to be used.

As a player, I would like to see the knights in the event, if 4 months isn't enough time for people to practice and form strategies against them then we are all pretty pathetic "competitive" gamers.

This isn't a general tournament, this has been decided by a Committee, if u don't like it I'm sure you have a captain who can raise the issue there.

Next years atc may be different, we already made specific decisions about things before this codex came out, and unfortunately this book has a few keywords.

Tl;dr.
Lol

Not to mention that our captain was marginalized and attacked by one or more of the other captains.

If you're going to give us a voice, don't then turn around and bully him.

The ATC is consistently backwards-looking and resistant to change. It even stayed in 5th Ed when the rest of the world was playing 6th Ed. So these Luddite rulings should not be surprising.

Given that the general tournament community has to adapt to new rules every month, I don't know how the ATC committee justifies setting rules restrictions six months in advance. This sort of thing is what makes the ATC it's own little special sandbox with minimal relationship or relevance to the rest of the 40k community.
