A bit like Mango's thread
Heres a pic of a Space Marine from a new Chapter I am working on. They are 'Drop Pod' based marines, the list can be seen here: http://www.wargamerau.com/viewtopic.php?t=7710 Anyway, here is the first test model:
And an 'In Action' shot against one of my 'Nids
Anyway, what do you think? The Brown/Chainmail scheme has really grown on me. Most of the models in the Tactical/Command Squads will be converted to a degree, this guy is plain ol' Joe Regular, to get a look at the sheme rather than the converting. Also, Names: -Sons of Iron -Iron Sons -Ferrous Legion -Ferric Knights (one of my faves Cheers, Tom -------------------- SA 40k Tournament Information Database

Thanks fellas :-D
Yeah, its a paint scheme I want to paint :-D Relatively easy to get a neat effect. Will help too, because I have Grey Knights that will be recieving simmilar treatment (but replace Brown with Blue) Im strongly considering Ferric Knights, opinions? How about Metal Storm? its also the name of a kick arse weapons system invented by an Aussie with a massive rate of fire that makes a mini-gun look VERY slow! Nice colour, one word of advice? Please dont use a gloss spray finish!! A nice matt srface really looks good on these schemes. |

Ferric Knights sounds pretty cool... The scheme looks really nice, its also pretty "different" from the normal marine you see around...

I really like this colour scheme, for your command/elites you could use a dark gold or highlight the brown with gold to make them stand out.

Cheers fellas :-D
Looks like a running tie between: Sons of Ferrous and, Ferric Knights Bails: It doesnt have such a glossy finish, its mainly how the photo came out and light source I used. The Chainmail is a very reflective colour :-D QUOTE what brown/ combinations of brown did you use?
From Black, i went to Bestial Brown, and highlighted with Snakebite Leather, and then a very light Brown Ink wash (mainly on the crest). The Ink was is probably why the crest seems a little dull. QUOTE Nice scheme, I thought it was a Silver Skull chapter marine.
Silver Skulls were tempting, but they are a much more dull shade of metal, its like a drybrushed Boltgun, and Im not a fan. QUOTE I really like this colour scheme, for your command/elites you could use a dark gold or highlight the brown with gold to make them stand out.
Thanks Zippy. I don’t want to disrupt the Brown for the chests too much. For the Command Squad I was thinking Brown or White helmets. Brown to match the rest of the theme colours, or White because all the Sergeants are upgraded to Apothecaries, and will be in white. QUOTE Knights of Al-Foil
