So I've got myself a few vorax for my mechanicum army. I got them because they look bad arse and have potential on the field. Rotor cannons are a bit meh, lightning gun is cool, the irad upgrade is useful to some extent and being S6 packing power blades is pretty handy plus 3 wounds each.

I've only used them for one game so far (today) and used them to outflank and clear out a cultist squad, the vorax soon got assaulted by a dread and after three turns finally got themselves wiped out. The dread ruined their day, they could have achieved more without it punching their faces in.

I love the units, they look sweet - but how do you use them effectively?

I think you got unlucky to be honest. Really to only roll 2 6's in 3 rounds of combat considering the number of attacks is pretty unlucky. I think the same face off would result in your vorax winning more times than not. It's not ideal but certainly not something that should concern you.

If I was going to offer advice it would have been to target the rhino with the Marines in it. It would have meant other units would have been free to pursue other targets.

True - there were some unlucky rolls going on.

I threw them at that cultist squad just so I could see them in action. There was no strategy in it.

Overall I think they are better suited for outflanking and taking down small annoying squads like devestators and sniper scouts. Maybe even taking out the odd back line general.

I'll have some havocs for you to try and kill next time. Got around 30 of the buggers now so might as well start using them, along with a third turkey armata_PDT_11.gif
