I'll certainly give it points for originality,as well as say they are certainly highly skilled with a brush; however seeing a Renaissance theme painted on a motorized tank from the 41st milennium seems vaguely wrong to me.

I 'unno. I feel it fits. The Space Marines seem to be all about preserving life and history (Dreadnoughts / Huge Libraries) so I can see this fitting. |

While it does look nice, the murals distract you from the average white paint work, basicly, it's very sloppy.

When I looked at it, I just saw a very nice browny marbled effect. I think that it looks much better on the Raider and the Rhinos than the other models (Dreads, Speeder and Marines) though. -------------------- |

yeah it's not working for me - the murals are pretty good, but there's something about the off-white colour that makes the vehicles look terrible. Nice idea thought. Maybe it looks better in the flesh.

Very nice.
Anyone who can paint murals like that on such small surfaces deserves a prize in my books |

i am not so sure about that.
imagine the time sunk into those models. 200 hours would be a GENEROUS guess at the build/paint time. thats 21 AU an hour, not including the cost of the models..... -------------------- This has not been updated for some time.... |

Thanks for sharing that! i am not so sure about that. imagine the time sunk into those models. 200 hours would be a GENEROUS guess at the build/paint time. thats 21 AU an hour, not including the cost of the models..... Yeah didn't mean you could make a living out of it... but the fact that he got over a years worth of play out of it, obviously enjoyed making it... that is priceless.... and then still sold it for more than the cost of the minis at the end. Good on him! |

painting derivative baroque style imagery on warhammer is becoming a pretty huge cliche of 'good warhammer painting'
its interesting in some sense in that theres a kind of paradoxical double-illusion created, pitting 2 different codes of content/representation that individually help lift the model up out of reality and into the imagination, but when superimposed together seem to vie for attention and nullify oneanother - bringing the 'expertly painted' model back to plastic reality. i dunno though, could be way off, but theres something i find consistently unsettling about mixing perspectival freehand with de-centralised 3D 'colouring in'. -------------------- |
