The "download" button seems broken Dave, although the hyperlink in the episode description works

Holy crap you are quick Dave!
Still half way through editing the post and you're on it!

Download link should be working now.
Still working on the time segment breakdown from the show. Haven't got that completely right as yet, but the times should be roughly ok.
Enjoy!

The Dwellers have a pretty detailed early look at the new Dark Elf book. Joined by local players Lachy and Jamie, the Dwellers muse over the new entries and updates. Have a little listen for the overall verdict.

0:00 – Intro and hobby talk
0:08 – Army rules and Core
0:37 – Special
1:11 – Rare
1:37 – Magics
2:09 – Magic items, combat characters and cauldron
2:37 – Overall thoughts
2:47 – Wrap up and outtro

2h 54min.

I haven't finished the episode yet, but it happens during the magic discussion, and when you're talking about assasins.

Problem fixed. Thanks for the heads up on that.

Now you can have those rules in your ears, music free!

One thing you've not called on the Sac Dagger is that it can no longer be used if you don't make the casting roll of the spell. That is a fairly hefty nerf.

First ever Dwellers I've listened to, very cool guys... good sh*t to listen to at night whilst painting some models. Very good analysis of the book too.

Funny as hell too... sh*t stepped up a notch when Gentile got there armata_PDT_14.gif

Don't think so.

Great episode guys.

Agree with Nathan above Its easy to get worked up but if you stop and take a deep breath I think they will work out reasonably balanced. A lot of the real bugbears about them have gone even if on paper a few unit to unit comparisons don't fare well for High Elves.

Silverhelms in core makes for a potentially very different strength for example.

And on the whole Dark Elves are now paying more for just about everything bar characters and bolties.

First time I've listened to you guys, and will mirror others in saying it was a great show. Well done, I'll be listening to you more now.

Incidentally, there was still the issue with the music others have mentioned towards the end when you were discussing Assassins. I downloaded the episode early this afternoon after your comment previously about having fixed it.

Yeah after some time to calm down I agree. I think 1v1 matchups the DE are definitely better, particularly with their hatred + murderous prowess. However compared to all the other 8th ed books they are very closely matched. I agree I think things like Silver Helm core vs no Heavy Cav core is a plus for HEs. I think High Magic combined with the Lore attribute is much better for HEs. I think some of the items are better for HEs. I also think that DE, particularly their elites are much much less resilient to shooting.

I think the DE got some really awesome stuff, but perhaps have more useless units as well (Sisters of Slaughter, Medusa, Bloodwrack Shrines etc) Shadow Magic excluded of course.

It also seems early on that DE clearly have a best elite infantry with Executioners, whereas with HE it's a very close thing between the 3, with all having their advantages, esp considering access to Ward Saves. I think 12pts for an exec is fair given they are t3 with only a 5+ save. Black Guard seem pricey, given they only hit at Str 4.

Overall so far I think that the DE hit harder, however they also die a little more easily too. I'm interested to see the DE v Warriors match ups as well, given they now have access to 4 cheap Bolt Throwers.
