have played with the RoF starter.
they are good fun. the heat lances are mean weapons if you get into range of an enemy large ship. would suggest a dreadnought is a must for any fleet. -------------------- |

Can anyone give me some tips just got tonight the starter for france. Did i make a right choice? Are they a good army? What should i get next i should say this is a naval set I played against them. They are hard opponents to deal with. Redoubtable weapons - heat Lances, Retardant Hulls, Lots of big guns, decent armour. Their Pocket Battleships are cheaper than my CoA Battleships, and even though I have 2 more guns, they can move theirs over terrain. They get Cloud generators as well reducing my chances of getting a hit in. I get my Shield generators, and even paint generators, with inventive scientists, but they are a good match for my army. COA and French Republic both have nasty weapons, and have rules which make it hard to hit them. They have better chances to assault my ships though as I am generally lousy at boarding actions. My Ice engines make it easier for me to retreat, and to even reverse (Ram) into another ship. 2 games against them. 1 win and 1 loss. And yes Dreadnought is a must. It helped him win his 2nd game. Even with my having a Dreadnought as well. -------------------- The world is chaotic, so why not join the party. Slaanesh welcomes you with open arms.

locally we are all agreeing to play without dreds for a while yet, I have been using the starter with a carrier, very fun fleet to use, amusing combo's and really enjoying the carrier as it can combat launch, I use torpedo bombers to finish off damaged ships.
the AA cruisers are very good too looking forward to using them on land -------------------- Backslide Painting
