Ok so basically at the title suggest, I am looking at getting in to WarmaHordes and have no idea what to do.
Basically what I want to know to start with is, what are the "usual" points that most people play with and how easy is it to achieve this? Also what is a good army to start/learn with? Just looking at them, I am leaning towards either Cryx or Orboros simply because they look cool. If there is anything else you think I need to know, would be appreciated This post has been edited by J_D: Feb 5 2012, 11:53 AM -------------------- |

Where do you live? There might be a Pressganger and/or group of players nearby that could show you the ropes.

If there is a club near you, it's a good place to start as there are a lot of new people in the game so there will be smaller games to start with.
Most people learn the game with the battleboxes, which are little self contained armies. You can play games with these using the free downloadable rules from PP. Reading the bejesus out of these is a good place to start.. You generally progress to 15pts then, which is often just the battle boxes plus a solo... From there the next step is usually 35, which is mainly the lowest points level for standard tournies... I'd hold off on jumping into the deep end by trying to learn the game at tournies... It can be a steep learning curve... If you are tossing up between circle and cryx to start the game with, i'd strongly suggest cryx... It's a strong faction to start the game with, and is a LOT easier to do well with than circle for a new player. If there are no clubs or places you can see a game nearby, try downloading vassal and the warmachine module. This is a free "virtual table top" system, and observing some games online in progress will help give you a handle on how the system works (especially if you are a visual learner). If you ask nicely, you might even find someone on there who could run you through a deno game or two with the faction battlebox of your choice. |

Hey mate
As suggested by Delrogue ( Pottsy ) grab the Battle Box and play a few games. Cryx and Orboros are quite similar as the both a fast, hit hard but not very good at taking a hit back. Cryx are very popular in Australia, Orboros not as common and Cryx but I think people are starting to relise how powerful Orboros are. Delrogue has recently switch to Orboros and finished in the top 4 i beleive at Cancon wait untill he has a bit more experciance with them. -------------------- Blythy AKA The Apache Recliner

Both of the factions your keen are are really good and have a wide assortment of tricks up their sleeves. Can't take as much damage as other factions but more than enough benefits to make up for that.
DON'T BUY THE CIRCLE STARTER BOX. Its a great way to get into the game with Circle, but were about to see plastic Warpwolf kits (1 box that will allow you to make 1 of three different types of warpwolves) and plastic argus may not be far off either. If your keen on Circle I would recommend waiting for the plastic kit (due late Feb, early March), the plastic feral warpwolf looks much, much better than the metal one. I like the idea of finding a club, except I am the Secretary for the new gaming club in Toowoomba and am trying to find players
So if anyone reading this is in Toowoomba, or knows how I can find someone that is, PM me cos I am pretty keen to give this a try (as well as trying to get WarmaHordes going big in the local club scene) -------------------- |

Seriously I am definately keen to make it a regular thing down at Battlestations, and would love to get people involved in the club so we can make the game big up here. We already have 40k and Fantasy tournaments planned for the year, would be great to get some WarmaHordes in as well. -------------------- |

Generally he runs a game once a month at either Battlestaion or Kaboom Comics. I think the next game is on the 26th Feb at Battlestation I'm sure you would be welcome. Check the details in the events forum for more info. Posted by stalledjack via me. |

Just look for some quick advice here. At the moment there are 2 main factions I am looking at, and I am basing this purely because I think they look. They are Menoth (the pissed of Priests) and the Circle (the pissed of Druids).
So was just wondering how these armys go in game terms, how do they play and are they any good -------------------- |
