FYI

I contacted KoolFoam via email over the weekend to ask about pink foam. They said that they do not offer pink foam - only "White expanded polystyrene as you would find in a coldroom panel"

Might be worth removing them from the list.

Thanks for the update. I have bought High Density Foam (Blue) off them in the past.

I go to Austech to get my foam now, and theirs is mainly yellow in colour.

Hey, i got a price list emailed to me from Austech for "Gold Board Extruded Polystyrene" sheets. I'm assuming these are the yellow ones correct? Are they high density? And more importantly, are they any good for terrain making?

I did a search on Austech's online store for Gold Board Extruded Polystyrene and it came up with Foamular Extruded Polystyrene, I assume these are the same thing or am I wrong?

EDIT: I just read through it again and it says that it is good for "Model Building, Including Boats, Railways and Architectural Models"

Cheers, Rhys

hey, has anyone seen extruded polystyrene in Australia (more specifically, in Brisbane) thinner then 25mm? Home Depot in the U.S sells extruded polystyrene sheets that a half an inch thick (12.7mm) which can be convenient for some things. The quote from Austech I have was for sheets in 25mm intervals (25mm being the thinnest).

I know expanded polystyrene can come in 10mm sheets, and theres also foamboard available too, but is there extruded polystyrene around thats thin like this? (around 10-15mm)

Has anyone bought back 2 basix foam? Is it expensive for their pricing? I'm looking at their 2' x 1' 50mm thick blocks to make a 4'x4' swamp board.

For dudes in Brisbane after extruded foam, here are the current prices for it from the Austech dudes linked in post number 7 of this thread. Correct as of the date of this post.

All sheets are 2450mm x 600mm

25mm thick = $21.22
30mm thick = $35.46
50mm thick = $42.43
75mm thick = $69.85
100mm thick = $93.14

Austech in Brisbane also had 50mm thick in sheets 2450 x 1200 when I called. $84.86 for that size.

They also mentioned to me that they are changing in the near future to "Dow Styrofoam" instead of the "Foamular" so it will be blue in colour instead of yellow soon. Apparently that is the only real difference, anything is is more technical for building use (R Values etc) that doesn't effect modelling.

Good to know, i just sent them an email for a quote, looks like i don't have to wait.

Still, $100 for a 100 thick sheet, wasn't expecting that much. Guess that purchase will have to wait.

Thankyou!

If anyone else has found a company selling extruded foam, please post details in this thread and I shall update the State lists.

Hi guys,

I tried the price list link for Austech products in Queensland.

The provided link doesn't work.

Yup, looks like they have taken down their price list and not put up another, though I guess post #20 and #30 would still give you a good rpugh pricing guide.

Give them a call. I know they have recently changed their product line to a blue extruded foam.

I sent a request via their web page. I got a reply today.

They have supplied prices for half and quarter sheets to be sent up from Sydney!

I have sent back a request for availability of full size sheets in Brisbane.

Fingers crossed!
