Yeah, if you don't like the models you're not going to have as much fun. While the crews he seems to be interested in are higher on the complexity scale, it just means it will take a little more effort and research the learn the game.
The Ten Thunders masters in particular all have some aspect to them that adds a layer of complexity that previous masters have not had. Lucas McCabe has his mounted rules, as well as his versatile gear rules. Yan Lo has his chi points and unlockable abilities. Mei Feng has triggers coming out the wazoo, and many of her actions chain together in a specific order. Jakob Lynch is more like the totem, and his totem is more like the master. Misaki is probably the most straight forward, being a semi-fragile one-on-one assassin with some movement shenanigans in her crew. But then you've also got masters like Leveticus, who dies and revives each turn, Hamelin, who summons hordes of rats and makes enemies insignificant, The Dreamer, who is actually two masters, and so on. |
