Well I am thoroughly happy with the new Tyranid Codex reviews I've seen. There is a lot of good stuff in there to make different kind of lists. But my favourite the Carnifex, is back to a viable choice again. I was always a fan of nidzilla lists and so I'm probably going to write a new army list based on this.

However the Tyrannofex also got beefed with the Rupture Cannon going to Heavy 3 S10 d6 damage, and can shoot twice if it doesn't move. For the price of one of these, you could field 2 Carnifex with Venom Cannon + 2x Deathspitters, and enhanced senses making them more reliable to hit. And of course there is a the Exocrine.

Which would you choose when deciding on a shooting monster as your anti-tank, the Tyrannofex, Exocrine, or 2x Carnifex?

I agree the swarmlord is ridiculous. I'd save him for a different sort of army, not a nidzilla one as I'd prefer to utilize Old One Eye and his Carnifex guard as the spearhead of the army. I was thinking something like.

2 Hive Tyrant wings
1 Malenthrope
1 Old One Eye
2 Carnifex Venom/2x Deathspitter
2 Tyrannofex Rupture Cannon
3 Dakkafex 4x Devourer
3 Screamer Killer 4x Talons

The vid is 2 1/2 hours long lol. I thought it was shorter when I first opened it. Ah well. Should be interesting.

dont forget to add Spinebanks to dakkafex+ enhanced senses.

I think with the carnies always go Monstrous Claws+ a gun. and just follow you advance. Give them the abiltiy to hurt stuff in h2h the extra 6 shots isn't going to do much.

The bioplasma for 9pt is pretty good.

Twin Devourers are 12 shots each pair now, so the dakkafex can pump out 24 shots not including something like spinebanks! You can always put thresher scythe to give them 4d3 S4 attacks to still maximise their shooting capabilities. I'm against putting a talon and gun though as it wouldn't be an optimized load out since you are paying points for something you wont use each phase.

I'd definitely put enhanced senses on the shooty carnifex. Hitting on 3+ and potentially (depending on which army you go) you can re-roll 1's to hit, or re-roll 1's to wound, or even permanent +1 cover save (that's a 2+ save on Carnifex).

Bio-plasma is good, but you can't take that and enhanced senses or tusks (+1 attack on charge). The screamer killer does have a suped up bioplasma though so you aren't losing by having 2 sets of scything talons. And if you run them with old one eye, they get to hit on 3+.

There is so many combinations now, its awesome. Still not sure though if I should get the Tyrannofex or more Carnifex for the AT...
