Greetings all, Ive been stuck in the space crusade/end of Rogue Trader?early 2nd edition era for the past 20 odd years and in the past few years Ive been getting stuck into painting my stuff up in the old style.

Squats and Goff Orks have been the priority, hey presto

Looking good Count Bruno

Making an orc and squat army set is quite the undertaking. My orc force took about 9-10 years to assemble and I ended up trading the squats as soon as I had finished the force. It is good to see people using the old support weapons. I am just waiting to get an Adeptus Mechanicus support weapon battery back from a friend to upgrade my imperial guard army. It is lead by a tech priest and has 3 thudd guns and 2 mole mortars. Should be good for a bit of indirect fire on Initiative 2's ratlings of death.

Wow- 3 thudds and 2 mortars? Ouch!
I always loved the thudd gun mini ,sadly I don't have a mole mortar to round my little battery out-at one stage I was considering adding a space crusade tarantula into the mix...

I spent a couple of years really sifting through evilbay, getting plastic arms for the squats was the worst!

Thanks guys, haven't had a chance to play 40k recently but have had half a dozen games of Space Crusade.

Id forgotten how hard it is to kill anything by shooting in that game!

Space Wolves were my first and only army for years, I have about 6000pts worth, all the old range but besides a squad of termies and a handful of characters it remains unpainted.
When I finish my Squats and Goffs Im considering getting at least 2000pts worth painted up, but Blood Angels, Bad Moons and a Genestealer Cult are all in the running too...

I love those classic orks; they're so much more full of character than the current designs. I like the painting too; very vibrant greens!

I'd forgotten how good the Chaos Marine miniatures from Space Crusade were; much better than you'd expect.

Couldn't agree more, the old Space Orks might possibly be my favourite line GW ever did and there was a huge range of sculpts for them-the current Ork appearance does very little for me.

Pretty much all the minis (except the poor unfortunate giant gretchin) in Space Crusade are better than they have a right to be once painted, though the chaos boys are definitely the standout.
Looking back on it that game was very good value for money considering the minis alone.
