Hey Maxo - any chance you've played Folklore? Trying to decide if it's worth backing the reprint on Kickstarter.

No I haven't but Ill ask around in my group for you.

I haven't played a full game since Cancon 3 years ago, I explained to my now wife what I would be doing during the day, left her in the Hyatt spa, thought all would be good. It wasn't, turned out she thought I'd been joking that I'd be playing toy soldiers for three days... Not a fan since.
Have you considered moving this to offtopic, not many people come to this sub forum these days.

I have, but I didn't know if it was appropriate for off topic as there is a general gaming discussion forum and off topic seems to only be for serious business.

Hahha offtopic could probably benefit from a break from randoms bitterly arguing about world events they have no influence over with people who will never change their opinions regardless of how many facts are presented.

Loved the article on Blackstone. I've had similar mixed feelings about it as a product, as it is suspicious how it isn't really compared to anything apart from Silver Tower.

I do love those models though.

Nice write-up, thank you.

I'm getting my copy of blackstone sometime in late Jan (after it gets commission painted).

Have a games night planned in early feb, will likely use a GM based on your recommendation.

A good article, thanks for sharing Maxo Q.

GW dropped the ball, badly, when they released the new edition of WHQ in the AoS setting, rather than the original setting. Having WHQ in a Sci-Fi setting, like Blackstone Fortress, just makes it worse in my opinion.

You bring up a very good point, that people who play GW games really only compare them to other GW games.

I have never thought about it before, but I think you are right.

There are plenty of dungeon crawling games that are better than Heroquest or Silver Tower, but most of the people looking into Blackstone Fortress wouldn't even know they exist.

Nice review.

I think alot of GW product now is lacking in the rules dept. simpler and faster. Not better. They are howeer listiening to feed back...

that bodes well for hallmark lines but one off boardgames will go by the wayside.

Though is that just a fact that GW has the depth to make those errors? You're some random small company, you can't make an underwhelming board game as that may be your only hope at profit. GW can create games that can safely fall flat because they have a loyal customer base who will buy regardless.

And those models they make for these games are consistently gorgeous. They must know there's some amount of resellers market out there for them. So, people buy them to turn a profit but what do they care?
