Hi,
Has anyone said they are coming to this?
This sort of caught me out as I was interested in a follow up FoW comp after the success of the last one but there hasn't been much advertising.

$25.00 Entry.

Advertising started about 1 month ago, however posters were late in coming/it was not cross promoted here. I will make sure for the next event in September that we will give people alot more notice.

For Road to MOAB II on 16-Aug-2015 can you advise:
  • cost
  • TO
  • Missions
  • Do lists need to be submitted ahead of time (if so, how/to who)
  • Do players need to register ahead of time (if so how/to who)
  • Any other details
I will then advertise the event on the Flames of War forums, Panzer Angriff calendar, Central Coast Wargames Club and Newcastle Legions.

Regards

Mark C

Posted AU: Highway to MOAB (16-Aug-2015, NSW Central Coast) on the Flames of War forums and also Highway to MOAB on WAU.

Also emailed Panzer Angriff to get it on their calendar, and sent an email to the Central Coast Wargames Club.

Hi everyone,
I will be attending and I will bring terrain for one table.

Also a few people from Sydney and Newcastle expressed some interest on the FoW forum so we may have some non-locals attending.

I know that Australia and USA are not part of Europe, but for many tabletop miniatures games (Flames of War, WFB, 40K) the European Team Championships has become almost a world championships.

Its good to see that Flames of War is going strong world wide.

It will be interesting to see if any of Team Australia rock up for the "Highway to MOAB" this weekend.

Do you want the results of "Highway to MOAB" added to the Rankings?

Damian wanted to make sure that players were happy to have the results of "Highway to MOAB" added to the Australian Flames of War Rankings.

The Rankings only use your best 4 results over the last year. Adding an event can only increase your Rankings score.

The advantages that I can see for adding the event to the Rankings are:
  • It helps establish the history of the event. For some players, likelihood of attending future events will depend on previous successfully run events.
  • It lets players keep an online record of what events they went to.
  • For those interested in the meta, it lets people look at results of events and what Nationalities have done well (it only records army by Nationality).
  • Some players are more likely to attend events if they are part of the Rankings - it gives them that extra motivation to attend.
The disadvantages are:
  • Your name is on the internet - although if this is a concern we can replace your name with a pseudonym.
  • Some players believe that a Rankings system makes opponents more competitively orientated rather than friendly games.
My personal position is that having the event on the Rankings system will help promote local events. I believe that we should market the events before they happen and also market the events after they happen by posting the results, encouraging discussion of the event, and putting them on the Rankings site.

Post here with your thoughts.

Regards

Mark C

From (AUS / NSW) NSW State Masters 21/22 November
QUOTE

Introducing NSW state masters.

This event will be for the top 16 players in NSW to battle it out for bragging rights.

The event will be held at
The Games Cube Parramatta.
Level 2, 79 – 81 Phillip St
Parramatta, 2150

On the 21st and 22nd of November 2015

It will be a 5 round event (3 games Saturday 2 sunday) and will follow next years ETC format, which at this stage will be 1650 points Mid War.

Missions will be the 2 mobile battles, 2 defensive battles and 1 of the fair fights. If by the end of September these have not been decided upon by the ETC then we will select our own.

Invites will be sent out to the top 16 players from NSW using the Panzer Angriff Rankings as of the last day in September. The invited players have 2 weeks to accept/decline before their invite is sent to the next in line. Each subsequent invited player after the initital 16 will have a day to accept/decline before it's sent to the next on the list and so on until we have 16 confirmed players.

There will be at this stage no entry fee and a dinner o nthe Saturday night is being organized, details to come.

There will be prizes for 1st,2nd,3rd and wooden spoon.

16th place in the Rankings is currently 202 points. Winning an 11 player event is worth about 80 points.

Regards

Mark C
