ok, I've finally thrown a blog together (Wedgetail on Wargaming) with the various reports and thoughts I've written since getting into KoW in February.

My earlier reports were pretty basic, but my last couple have been done up with Battle Chronicler, should be easier to follow. C & C welcome. I'll try to keep this post updated with my latest reports.

Tournament Report: Kings of February

Tournament Report: Kings of Dave 4

Batrep 4: Loot! Kingdoms of Men v Abyssal Dwarfs

Batrep 5 Pillage! League of Rhordia v Abyssal Dwarfs

Really great to see your blog being updated with a very nice content. I hope you enjoy battle report writing! Please, give me a bit more time as your battles deserve a proper and detailed reply. I promise I will get there!

In the meantime, keep up the great work! armata_PDT_37.gif

Nice one. I commented on the blog but I will say the same here. Your mate needs at least one Ironcaster if not two. They can surge and heal the golems they can heal the immortal guard. In my army they are indispensable! Thanks for sharing.

Quick question: Are you gluing all your men onto their multibase?

No, I just blutack them straight to the MDF base, then chucking flock over the lot and sealing it with a weak solution of PVA and water. It's reasonably hard-wearing, but if you want to rebase them in a different configuration it's not a huge deal. I split my rifle horde into 4 troops, and it only took an hour to rebase it all.

That is an excellent plan! I hope you don't mind if I shamelessly steal it?

Go for it. Helps get over the psycholgical barrier to multibasing. Although for my next project I'm going to superglue/pin models to the base, but that's because I'd only ever use the army for KoW.

Ouch!

Can I ask what the Steam Tank was as I can't find it in the KoM army list?

Is it on the League of Rhordia list?

When playing KoM I run it as a Beast of War with a Light Ballista. When playing League I run it as a Halfling Iron Beast.

Clever armata_PDT_37.gif

I like the flexibility of the system. You can pretty much use most stuff as something else as long as it bears a reasonable resemblence.

Yeah you see some pretty creative proxying out there. I think my favourite so far is GW Dwarf Gyrocopters being run as allied Elf Drakon Riders.

Nice reports mate, I think you had some hard luck in the game.

What do you think would be a good counter for the 54 breath attacks?

I don't know. I know some TOs are comping it out, you're not allowed to take more than 3 of any one type of war engine or hero.

There was a long thread on the official forums, discussing this goblin list that was basically 6 hordes of rabble, 6 war trombones, & 6 goblin wiz's. That's only 1410 points as it is (so different people would do things like add in some Giants or Trolls, or bump the rabble hordes to legions or whatever). But the core of it was the 90 P(1) breath attacks. The goblin rabble would screen the wiz's and trombones, and not counter charge, just letting the breath weapons do their thing.

Anyway I know Tony got beat, I think by Dave pretty comprehensively, so there's obviously a way to do it, I just wasn't able to observe the match. Dave's brothehood list has a bunch of flying hordes and flying characters, so maybe that was it, although typically breath weapons are supposed to be a counter to flyers so who knows. (Dave and a bunch of other guys obviously, just not me).

But for my list? I should have held my hero back and made sure he got a guaranteed charge into one of the trombones. Running him off and sitting him a few inches in front of them was just asking for him to get deleted. I did focus fire at them with my rifle troops, and was bit unlucky with my nerve rolls. If I'd rolled averages I should have at least wavered his trombones half the time (they only have 8/10 nerve, and my rifle troops were reliably landing at least 1 wound a round on my targets).

I should have used my mounted scouts to shoot at them too, instead of shooting at the goblin cav. If rolls had gone my way, he could have lost all of his war trombones by turn 2/3. But he deployed well, used the terrain to his advantage, and took his time when committing to charges.

Thanks for the reply mate, I can see why people would comp that out. My local games haven't gotten there yet. We are mostly WHFB refugees wanting to push some dollies around.
