In the grim distance of the far future there is always time for another game.

8 Games of 7th Edition at 1250pts over 3 Days.

Army: 1250pts armies build using the battle forged method (p118 The rules).

All current codex/datasheets/formations released before the 20st of September will be allowed.
Imperial Armour will be allowed. Superheavies and gargantuan creatures are not. You will be expected to possess both the relevant model and the most recent rules to use it.

You will have to bring dice, templates, tape measure, at least 2 copies of your army list (one for me, and one to show your opponent) and of course your army.

Please send any questions and your army list to MOAB40K@tpg.com.au

Army lists due one week(27th September) from the event to the above address.

Any comp element?

I would love it if this was Panel comp tbh. Although, judging by past years I don't see any comp elements there.

10,000 times more keen if it were comped tbh. Ask an experienced player from each state if they would be willing to put a little time into marking comp scores for army lists. Then just grab the highest and lowest score for each list and find the middle ground. That way they don't get either extreme and it should be a rough estimate of where they stand against the rest of the field.

Comp events are just more fun for everyone.

You find me a comp system that actually works and I will give it a try.

Sadly though they rarely achieve what I want of them and dont really stop the evil armies from ruining weekends.

Or at least have not done so thus far.

That's why I suggested panel comp. It follows no system. If you get a person from each state or major playing area in Australia to input scores you get a nice averaged out comp score that represents everyone's personal feelings and metas around the entire country.

This is how I've been told fantasy do it for their panel comped events and it seems to work great for them. Fantasy does have swedish comp, which would be perfect. However 40k doesn't have such a thing, community comp just isn't that great, it doesn't go quite enough in depth.

I don't mind if it's no comp, however I was far more enthused by the idea of a comped environment. I made a massive discussion regarding it on the 40k general discussion section. It's really off topic in the last few pages, however the first couple of pages are well worth a read.

TLDR;
Panel comp stops the evil armies. Consider that method perhaps?

Maybe put it to a vote for people on the forums here. Set one up with a few different options and see what people favor.

Panel comp doesn't stop the evil armies. It might one them down a little, but people will still bring them.

Maybe so, but it certainly gives incentive to soften up their list.

I don't want to turn this into a whole comp discussion. I just thought I'd throw out the idea for the TO to consider. After all, it's his event and he's in control of the kind of event he thinks is best for everyone.

Regardless of what is decided, I shall be there!

What ever comp system is adopted, use it to have players of the same comp score to play each other, so the nice soft armies play each other, and the hard as nails armies play together.

That way, no ones weekend is screwed by playing an army that is out of their league.

I was just wondering if any of the missions are going to be using Maelstrom missions. I know there's a lot of grumbling around the net about them theoretically in tourney play, so some people aren't willing to try them. But they're actually pretty decent and make each turn more relevant. Plus there's 8 games so they might mix things up a bit.

I am planning on running a full mix of missions at the event. Just to keep things interesting.

Ah the optimism of youth... That comp can be balanced and not abused.

I remember those heady days. Assigning different armies scores, different build classifications, allocating points and tick boxes to strengths and abilities of man, beast and weapon...

But few now remember the old ways... Few remember the reign of Lord Hull and Dark Sith Aeon*

During these turbulent times, there was no playing for 1st or 2nd... There was only playing for the scraps that these arch manipulators left in their wake!

Such was the folly of new players to aspire to conquer these might juggernaut of the arena! For I myself bled many a point in grudges, trying for the montage style victory to make a name for myself amongst the fold. But alas… this was not the case.
You see… second only to their tactical prowess**, was their ability to build such abominations of rule, that no comp system could contain their reach… And with these days… and the villainy of our southern kin. The comp system, much like it’s fallen brother high scoring sports, was lost to the winds of history.

** To be fair, it was not just John and Hilly. It was all of us… to a degree. But it’s a bit of fun to rile up John. :-D

Oh, and BTW totes coming will be lulz… werd!

It's been a while since you were sober hasn't Dallas?

But yes comp is a good idea in theory that the folly of man destroys
