![]() The sky is becoming darker and Crepusculum is cooling down. Dusk approaches and the Nymphlets (dragonfly-like creatures) congregate in traditional locations to lay their eggs to hibernate during the Long Dark. It is during this time that Occulites from everywhere converge on these locations to catch them en masse. The Nimbus tribe Occulites catch them to help pollinate vegetation for the next season high up in their mountainous homes. They must do this as Nymphlets rarely venture into higher altitudes, preferring the warmth of the lower lying lands. Every other tribe consider them a tremendous delicacy and will feast on them to increase their fat stores before going into hibernation over the Long Dark. This is your tribe’s opportunity to set yourselves up well for the coming dark… how fast are your reflexes? ![]() Period: Fantasy Rule system: Dawn – Rise of the Occulites Board Game Figure Scale: 28mm Game Type: Short form pickup game Number of public participants (per session): 4 Game Master: Ben Boersma |

![]() As we approach the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, Ray and friends are putting on a game of Memoir 44. Memoir '44 is a historical boardgame where players face-off in stylized battles of some of the most famous historic battles of World War II including Omaha Beach, Pegasus Bridge, Operation Cobra and the Ardennes. The game mechanics, although simple, still require strategic card play, timely dice rolling and an aggressive yet flexible battle plan to achieve victory. In addition to the large, double-sided gameboard, Memoir '44 includes 144 amazingly detailed army miniatures - including historically accurate infantry, tanks and artillery; 36 Obstacle pieces, 60 illustrated Command cards, 44 Special Terrain tiles, and 8 Custom Wooden dice. Period: WW2 Rule system: Memoir 44 Figure Scale: 6mm on Kallistra hex terrain Game Type: Short form pickup game Number of public participants (per session): Multiple games will be played. ![]() During the years succeeding the rule of Antoninus Pius, the Roman Empire began to be attacked upon all sides. A war with Parthia lasted from 161 to 166 (under the joint rule of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus), and although it ended successfully, its unforeseen consequences for the Empire were great. The returning troops brought with them a plague (the so-called Antonine Plague), which would eventually kill an estimated 5 million people, severely weakening the Empire. At the same time, in Central Europe, the first movements of the Great Migrations were occurring, as the Goths moved westwards, putting pressure on the Germanic tribes of the area. As a result, Germanic tribes and other nomadic people launched raids along Rome’s northern border, particularly into Gaul and across the Danube. Some of these battles will be refought using C&C Ancient Rules in a number of scenarios during the day, feel free to join us in taking a Command or even leading the Barbarian horde in the defeat of the Roman Legions, or Leading the Mighty Armies of Rome to victory. Period: Imperial Rome (161 – 166 AD) Rule system: Commands & Colors: Ancients Game Master: Brian Hall |
