Hey all!

Thought I'd get a painting comp organized through Mind Games to entice the locals to put some extra-special effort into a centerpiece model for their army, or just to have a go at some new techniques.

Anyways have a gander at the details below. Flyers will be available at Mind Games as of tomorrow, so will entry forms.

At this stage I'll be judging the event, although I may see if one of our local talents is available to give some quality advice!

Feel free to use this thread for any questions you may have, or just to smack talk your friends about how much better your paint job will be. I might even organize some "grudge match" voting if you'd like to see who did better between two friends...

Geelong Demon Painting competition 2011
Where: Mind Games Geelong, 167 Ryrie Street
When: Model submission from 21/02/11 until 18/04/11
Judging to be held 1PM 23/04/11 at Mind Games Geelong
Cost: $10 per entrant. This will allow you a single entry in each size category for your age group.
Categories: There are four categories divided into two age groups, as follows-
Veteran, Single Model
Veteran, Large Model
Youngblood, Single Model
Youngblood, Large Model

Veteran categories are for painters aged 18 years and over. Youngblood categories are for painters under the age of 18 (as of 23/04/11).
Single Model Category:
A single 28mm scale (or smaller) non-monstrous figure, mounted on a base no larger than 40mm (round or square). Some examples include a space marine terminator captain (40k), an orc warboss (fantasy), the Butcher of Khardov (Warmachine), and a guild Death Marshal (Malifaux).
Large Model Category:
A larger-than-human 28mm scale figure, vehicle, cavalry model, or anything else that doesn’t fit into the single model category. There are no base restrictions for this category. Some examples include a tau crisis suit (40k), an empire knight (fantasy), a slayer warjack (warmachine), and an ice golem (Malifaux). Models from scales larger than 28mm (i.e: Inquisitor figures) are also included in this category.
Judging Criteria:
Models will be judged on painting quality alone. Basing and conversions are allowed (and encouraged if you’re up to the challenge!), but will not factor into the judging of the model. Awards will be handed to the top three entrants from each category. Judging feedback will also be provided for all entrants.

Any enquiries regarding the competition to be made to Adam Smith (damnitsham on WAU)
Good Luck!

Yeah, I haven't had a chance to contact him, and I know his schedule can be stupidly busy at times...

Thought it might be good to start taking the reins on these events as well wink.gif

EDIT: Looks like I'll be judging this one guys, better wow me with your skills. I won't be taking bribes, but I do like beers wink.gif

Thanks for this Smithy.

Gives me a reason to finish that model I 1/3 did two years ago. Motivation at last.

I'd say yes, as long as it is longer than 30mm.
