Already liking the layout of v2. Straightforward and logical. One of the quirks about v1 was that everything was all over the place, making for flipping back and forth a frustrating act.

Question for the FoGN afficianados: Does a Brigade commander get two bites at the cherry, ie second move when more than 6Mu from the enemy. It certainly raised a heated debate. Any help from those who know?

I don't understand what you mean. Maybe ask on the FOGNV2 Slitherine forum.

Unit with offr attachment makes first move. Because it's outside the 6MU danger zone, it is entitled to perform a second free move but must spend a CP to do so. Does the offr attachment count towards this expenditure of the free CP?

Mmmm, interesting. I would say he chips in one pip, which would be enough if the unit was drilled (and unecessary if it was veteran) but inadequate if the unit were conscripts. The revised rules do specify (p13) that the divisional general can still give pips to a unit with a brigade commander.

Cheers. Just needed validation of what we presumed was the case.

Page 12 states this clearly: "Brigade Commanders have a single Command Point available per turn usable only by the unit to which they are attached."

Second playtest game. Getting the hang of it. Liking it more as we continue to play it. Russian 1812 vs Swedish/Finnish (?). 650 points. This time, the Swedes pummelled the cocky Russians, routing both the Grenadiers and Cossacks.

Just played V2 and it certainly plays quicker than V1. My mate has played a couple of V2 games but this was my first go. I beat him quite quickly so we had time for a second game and that was even with added time to look up rules clarifications. Both of our games finished in under 3 hours compared to about 3.5 hours per game in V1. One improvement is that broken units stay broken - no rally, which makes things more decisive.

There has been a flurry of FOGN V2 gaming lately with the Kiwis using the new rules in their tournament recently, a couple of our guys went across. Here in Melbourne we are gearing up for our tournament in July at the League.

The new deployment system creates much more variety and interest than the old one as well. It is a much improved game in a whole variety of ways.
