JoD: Macharius Solar Orange (aka: best color ever) mixed with vermin brown, then pure solar macharius, then added more and more sunburst yellow and highlighted with a touch of skull white, then went back with golden yellow and placed little bubbles in by hand, then went back and put sunburst yellow bubbles in the top area. To make it a little glowy, I ran some watered down golden yellow around the edges.
Hope that helps -------------------- War Gamers of LaTrobe "Get your geek on." |

Woah unexpected update! Bam!
Long time no post, and if I'm honest that's because there's been nothing to post about. Time passes, I sit and my window and pine for plastic Triarch Stalkers, life continues... until a sudden madness took hold of me and I realised how amazing Harbingers of Transmogrification are. So I bought a lord. And cut it. And threw some paint on it. THE WORLD MUST KNOW! So here's my jerk. Holding a Tremorstaff and Seismic Crucible: ![]() Better shot of the glow ![]() The staff is a mix of the original shaft, a rod of the covenant for the rest of the shaft and the lower part of the head, the muzzle of a deathmark gun on top and a dark eldar vial on the bottom. I think the seismic crucible is from the Dark Eldar Talos kit? Something like that. From behind ![]() And above, why not ![]() Even though he's built from a lord, the new Overlord's heavy frame still makes this guy look 'middle management' and not close combaty at all. Not knowing what either of these pieces of wargear looks like, I took a punt, it should be enough to get players to ask me "what's with that guy?" so I can explain Crypteks... in full.. again.. Hope you like him. Also, feel free to rate my diary If you like it. FD This post has been edited by FatDamien: Apr 8 2012, 08:14 PM -------------------- War Gamers of LaTrobe "Get your geek on." |

That aint how the rule works brah. Yeah. Yeah. Although I hit a Land Raider redeemer with a tremorstaff today, and wouldn't you know it, the darn thing rolled a 1 and immobilized itself. Unlucky for some. Necrons are now 20 wins, no draws, 1 loss. Mostly from sheer, bullpies luck than skill, but I'm not complaining. -------------------- War Gamers of LaTrobe "Get your geek on." |

Not as bad as those pilots, but still a little fiddly. By the time I finished the 5th, I was kinda glad there wasn't a sixth.

Update! Well well well, the long awaited day came at last, and plastic Triarch Stalkers are mine! I have built two so far, and they are very sexy kits. They balance like a dream, the legs have vertical pins built into the plastic and the forelegs freely articulate at the hip, and bend about 60 degrees in the crook of the elbow.
The assembly was mostly trouble-free, apart from the following 2 gripes: 1) The rollcage on the cockpit being one of those "everything has to be glued at once" type parts, and 2) just like the Triarch Praetorians, the Triarchpilot has a separate front-of-neck piece which has to be clamped inside the torso, making the chest a 5 piece build, not counting the head. I'm not even mad, just confused. Wether by accident or design, once together it stands slightly shorter than the inside of a GW case, which is handy news indeed as the pair of them fit snugly where the hole for my now abandoned Doomsday Ark once lived. "Shutup Fatty, just give us the pics" I hear you cry, and pics you shall have. The one I finished last night is my favorite of the two, codenamed Scuttles. To start us off, a pic of the completed assembly. Scuttles is the one on the left. ![]() And now, glamor shots! ![]() Port view ![]() Starboard side ![]() Top down ![]() Scuttles and his pilot, 1st Lieutenant Zero One One One Alpha. ![]() Marine's eye view. God this thing was made to loom over people. ![]() I loves him good. I did enjoy painting this model, so I might just kick on with the other Triarch Stalker, codenamed Clamps, next to bring me to a very tidy 1500 on the dot. A lot of people have been asking me about the Wraiths and Spyders, and if I'll add them. My answer is probably not. I understand how good they are, and the models are the business, but I just don't feel they would fit very well in my army. I themed the force around the idea of saturating firepower and suppression, and adding in a few hundred more points of Close Combat just isn't living up to that. The Spyders might come later, in larger games to beef up the scarabs, but for now the bikes, Stalkers and adding in the Stormlord will take me all the way up to 1750, which is the upper limit of my games of 40k. Other Necron armies will have more canoptek stuff, and I'm sure they'll do a great job of it. But when planning a list, you can't take everything. Anyway, that's my rant cos I'm sure I would otherwise be asked. Any other questions are always welcome. What do you guys think of Scuttles? -------------------- War Gamers of LaTrobe "Get your geek on." |
