Hi All,

I just placed my first order for infinity miniatures today and thought now would be a good time to post some information for people looking at the game that has helped me.

Faction Descriptions:
Sourced from the "official" Infinity forums with additional comment added by WAU member: dontshoot

Pan Oceania has the largest number of TAGs to select from, aswell as specialist Heavy Infantry to back'em up. However, their specialists are pale in comparison to others.

Basically these troops are from the sub contenant and SE Asia and Ocieana. Very hi Tech and have a range of TAGS. The army is a shooting based army but tends to lack special ablilities other armies have. Hi-tech armies are seseptable to being hacked and emp, ask scotty . So this army will be built around Tags and cheap infantry and hackers\Engineers supporting.

Yu Jing is the Heavy Infantry Army, witha main focus geared towards Heavy Infantry.

Based on China. The army has some very, very nice close combat troops and a high level of heavy infantry. Heavy infantry can be hacked and is sesceptable to EMP.

Nomads are the Medium Infantry/Specialist army, with the best Hackers and Engineers. Their Medium Infantry is also fearful, as the Intruder can testify.

Never played these guys but the way in which they fight really intrests me. These guys have a lot of hackers, hackers are able to attack TAGS amd take them over. They can desable heavy infantry as well as hi tech guns.

Ariadna, are the guys who got the short end of the stick, and make up for that with heavy leaning towards guerrila and camouflage tactics, hitting and running, or, denying other player's assets (Liek the Nomad can do).

These guys are the US and Britan. Very low tech compare to othe faction, basically modern day weapons but they make up for it with a very, very high amount of Armour penertrating weapons. They also have access to aliens, well alien dogs and they are troops that actually transform into werewolfs. By having low tech troops they are not affected by hackers or emp.

Haqqislam is the army with the best Doctors, and most readilly available ones. They are the Light Infantry Army, supported by a number of specialists.

Really cool troops and army. I love the background and the look of the army. I am unsure how doctors work but they do have some for of benefit over medics. These guys get a few Doctors where other armies only get 1 doctor. Ohh they also get a cool looking 1 wheeled motor bike.

Combined Army are, well, the finest at everything, but, get less troops.

Yep, these guys are the best at everything but are expensive points wise and do lack a uniformaty in look as they are made up of 5 alien races. There are more races coming.

How do the models come packed in Starter sets?:

Glad you asked biggrin.gif

Hi All,

After looking at the cool minis for a while & reading through the Free Quickstart Rules (Full Free Rules also Downloadable) I took the plunge and Ordered 2 Infinity Starter Sets.

Today my Pan O and Ariadna Starters arrived.

For those of you who are curious here is how they are packaged:

IPB Image

IPB Image

The packaging was well done. Pretty cover on the outside with plain Australia Post style box on inside.

Minis and bases were packed in between 2 think layers of foam. Under the bottom layer of foam the Quick Start Rules.

Individual one piece models come loose inside he box:
IPB Image

Other multi piece models come in individual zip lock bags:

The bases are same style as the GW 25 mm round bases for 40K.

One thing that really stood out was the lack of Mould Lines & the details on the miniatures both were outstanding!

Overall I am very happy with what I ordered.

Over the next few days, weeks, months rolleyes.gif I will update this blog with progress photos of the two starters (and more minis as I buy them and Yes I will be buying them armata_PDT_37.gif - My Wife's ears are burning biggrin.gif ).

Happy Gaming,

Allan

The Full blog will be in the modelling Diaries:

Hi combat droid - kinda depends where you are in relation to buying models.
I think SF Nexus in NSW stocks the minis, Mind Games in Melbourne does (and they offer mail order) and there is a monthly direct order that goes in through Jim @ diceclub (PM me for details). I think Olympian Games also sells the minis.

A starter force (say 250pts) will cost about $80-$100. The basic starter sets (6 minis in most cases) are $55 or thereabouts, blisters range from $12 for a single trooper to $20-odd for a larger model or a pair of smaller troops. The starter sets are generally about 150pts I think - a couple of blisters will see you with a good force.
The starter set is playable and seems to include 3 grunts, 1 heavy hitter and 2 specialists in most cases.
TAGs are also $55 (but they're not needed in a basic force). Drones and other box sets are about $40.

Also, on the side of the boxes you will see markers. Cut these out and use them in the game. Stops you from needing to photocoping the book.

Things to think about before playing your first game of Infinity.

Choosing a Faction.

My advice is choose the figures you like best. Each army list supports various types of builds. You like Remotes... all factions bar one has remotes. You like Heavy Infantry... all factions have Heavy Infantry but some are spoilt for choice. You like Camo troops all factions have camo troops but some... you get the picture. By picking a faction you are not going to be locked into one specific strategy.
The difference comes in the subtle differences in profiles and available specialists/equipment.

Your first game:

Rule number one: Terrain is Key. You want lots of Terrain on the board. The game requires varied, LOS blocking terrain. This avoids heavy weapons from dominating the board. Terrain is key to your armies survival more so than any other system.

Rule Number 2: Start with a Starter
Don't get to ambitious with a first game out. Each faction has lots of specialists and with specialists come extra rules. A starter is a good basic mix for a force. Usually a few LI, one HI, a TO specialist and/or Impetous troop. Not all starters are created equal. For example a Yu Jing starters comes in around 145 poitns where as the Combinded army comes in at 189 points. Each faction should be able to field around 150 points out of the box. I recommend to play with the HI and Li options out of the box for the first game so you can learn basic mechanics. Start adding the crunchy bits after that.

More to come...

Well while reading and trying to learn this game the thing that sticks out to me the most is the lack of an Index. Oh so useful for referencing back to rules and meanings....

But the contents is quite detailed. If you what type of ability you are looking for, that makes it even easier.

True and once I've played a few games I think the system will gel with me. Thank goodness it's a skirmish game with all these counter rolls and actions! laugh.gif

The face to face rolls and ARO are the highlight of the game for me. I can't stand it when models sit idly by while they get slaughtered.

BTW you might find the reference sheet helpful : http://www.infinitythegame.com/foro/forum/...opic.php?t=2350

If you end up buying the main rulebook it does come with an Index/contents page. Very easy for looking up rules.

Lots of fluff as well biggrin.gif
