Actually a bit surprised... maybe it's old news?

They're pretty decent. GW has been better in some regards lately. Their starter bundles are starting to be a bit less ridiculous.

I know GW has hurt everyone in the past, but they seem to be improving. Hopefully we'll see more of these well priced starter bundles in the future.

It's also worth noting that these each come with a unique formation, which is neat.

Yeah, I am very surprised by these

For instance the Skitarii one is $140 for models that would come to about $240 retail

So for not much more than the retail price of the Skitarri ranger and the Dominus you also get a Dune Crawler.

For GW this is a MASSIVE change in attitude. GW have never done sales or real discounts so discounting by around $100 is a huge change. Also, all the models are actually useful, its not like the bundle has useless models just to make up the box.

It is good to see a change to their approach, but the cynic in me says they wouldn't be doing it unless they were having sales issues. Perhaps not.

anyway good to see, and is a great entry into the hobby

I might be able to pick up a cheap Dominus now tongue.gif

Well I think that's the crux of it. By doing this, it makes it much more accessible for both new players and veterans to start a new army.

They're great bundles and they've got me keen to start a new army.

They used to do sales at grand openings, with coupons printed in white dwarf for things like 20%/30% off, buy 2 get one free, etc. Those were fun times.

probably a typo to be fixed lol, jokes aside it is good to see maybe they've realized the costing.

$140 for 11 figures and 1 tank is still expensive considering you can get 4-5 1:35 model kits as a comparison.

Yes, GW is expensive, hence why everyone has said this is a good deal by GWs standards.

This might be a move to replace all the old ~$150 battleforce sets they used to have available as an option.

The old battle forces allowed players to pick up a nice selection of core units for an army and provided a moderate discount over buying it all seperately. These new kits seem to have a similar design.

Hopefully they'll get around to expanding the range to include a starter set for all of the various factions in both 40k/Age of Sigmar (along with a faction box for each of the future updates for Age of Sigmar).

Something horrendously overpriced reduced to only excessively overpriced is still overpriced.

Sometimes i think id like to buy a GW model but then i realise how much food you can get for 180 dollars and how much time id have to work to recoup the loss, and i then i go on wau and post my complaints. And then someone tells me to just shut up if i cant afford it. And the cycle continues smile.gif

I sometimes do the same, right up until I find someone selling them for $112 and it gets harder to resolve the food-models decision...

Seriously though, I'm glad to see some better intro bundles showing up. All games desperately need to get new players in if they're going to survive.

Look, it's not that I'm trying to stop you from expressing yourself. It's just that every thread about a new GW product always devolves into people complaining about pricing. It's nothing new. I've been playing since 3rd Edition, it was expensive then too.

These deals are good by GWs standards. It still doesn't change the fact that Warhammer is a premium hobby with premium pricing.

Though as Morsla pointed out, there are some great businesses out there who offer some pretty good discounts.

So these aren't GW web store exclusive? Indies have these available as well?

That's potentially a very nice deal then!

I think they're meant to be permanent range items now - if so, that's a great move. New players should be a constant focus, not just the target of a seasonal campaign.

Yep best Aussie retailer I found was to be 109 bucks for the box sets.

I am serious thinking picking up two lizard ones for the carno/trog and cav unit the warriors are a bonus
