Well guys, it all over and done with!!!!
We hope everyone one the whole had fun... We saw alot of smiles and quite a few laughs had. Even at the top end of the table.
REMEMBER, this was our FIRST tournament, yeah it may not be perfect but I think what we aimed for (being a FUN con weighted to soft scores) was fairly well achieved....
As for one or 2 interesting situations from or missions... We play tested, and well like omst things related to 40k, when you hit combat conditions. Thngs come up.

Anyway onto the results......

Its funny, but my little buddy Steve Z is a newbie at 40k, and 12th is a bloody good showing, 2nd for comp as well!, not to mention a solid sports score as well.

I thought it was about normal for him actually tongue.gif

Apart from the last mission which was interesting, I had a ton of fun!

If anyone was wondering, my comp and painting scores were more than deserved. Thats what happens if you take a freshly built army with no heed of comp to a soft score tournament smile.gif

Bring on the next one!

Good work guys - was a fun tourney and the work on putting a story line behind the missions was much appreciated.

Just need to create an army that is easier for me to beat when we need to swap armies at the start - think that tells me that i'm still using army creation as crutch smile.gif

Good work on your first tourney - thought it ran pretty smoothly considering you were trying a lot of new stuff. I'll be there as always for anymore you run.

Was fun, eldar vs eldar for swapsies where I showed just how poor my grasp of the eldar is - lose, major deployment mistake against the 13th co - lose, didn't get enough kills on the stealers against the nids - lose, and quite a bit of shooting luck against eldar - win.

No surprise on my comp score, Biel Tan with only one squad of Dire avengers...

This isn't a complaint (coz it made me place last and get the gumby) but I'm wondering what I did to get such low sports score? I can think of two things 1) I was really tired so came across as a grumpy bastard and 2) I'm still getting really confused by the rules (not helped by switching my army everytime), my brain is mashing up RT, 2nd ed 3rd ed and 4th, so I end up getting a lot of things wrong. Good example was the not being able to regroup if within 6" of enemy, that rule totally passed me by, so thanks whoever pointed it out, I'll remember it in future. This means it might look like I'm cheating or something, really I'm not, I just don't have a clue... On the flip side my opponents could tell me bloodletters get a 12" move and fleet and I'd believe them.

I'm reading up on the rules, so hopefully my rules snafus will decrease. Gonna also try and get some more games in at GG on tuesdays if anyone wants to have some practice games.

Good fun, when's the next one?

Dont worry Trever; even with 4 max sized Dire Avenger units in my Beiltan army I still got 0pts for theme tongue.gif

As for the sports score; when 3pts (out of 10?) was considered an average game on the sheet then it is alittle weird. Besides; Sports is abit of a lucky dip on if you are an average game.

I still think that there should only be four categories; Bad game (-5pts), Average Game (0pts), Good Game (3pts) and great game (5pts)

Sports is there to make sure everyone plays nice and rewards great and punishes bad sports people. If your an average gamer you should expect an average score; sports is way too subjective to put an exact number on things; ie how am I a slightly better sport than Ray?

Trev, it surprised us just as much as you, especially dallas, considering he's played you before and know's you're a good sport........ Can't really say much about it but maybe if you asked some of the opponents you had they may tell you why you scored so low (considering 2 of the games you had scored the "quite low" for sports which had us guessing, we almost asked the opponnt for justification).

Yeah John, I understand where you are coming from, and although 3 was considered an "average" game, there i still personal opinion on what you think the opponent should get for sports (all guidelines aside), but making it out of 8 made it a perfect number to slot in with all the other scores without having to wory about any rounding up or down.

You're comp john?? Unfluffy for beil tan with that many dire avengers???? Yeah this may be what Beil Tan is meant to have but (even though it was a very minor comp hit)..... You didn't give us any fluff to go off...... as many people didn't........ therefor its kinda hard to mark a list as fluffy with no fluff to go off.... sorry dude armata_PDT_05.gif .

Anyway, as stated, hope all had fun....... was good to see some people apart from the "usual suspects" win some prizes, meant in a totally friendly way of course,...... and here's looking forward to our next one which will be something "ENTIRELY" different again! armata_PDT_37.gif

But I still have my usual "Best terrain" prize! Woohoo!

Come on guys, start constructing your cities, huts, hills, manors, hell even forests, and try and knock me off my perch! And I just couldnt be bothered to sit down (while coughing my guts up, you all saw it) and punching out my BG and naming units etc.

But now I have afew weeks before the next, not only will the BG be constructed and developed BUT the army will be finished being painted, today I finished the shoulder pads on the 2nd marine squad, touched up (not you John or Mark) worn areas and battle damage (from Micheal's rough handeling of them first game wink.gif ), Now I will start to come up with names for them all, I am thinking a "Action Hero" theme, so will be looking for all of Arnie's, Sly's, Bruce's and Kirt's arction hero character names, all led by Alexander (my son) ohhhh. ohmy.gif

PS, its been 2 years since I won "best Sports" I wonder if it had anything to do with the army I was using for those 2 years?

One opponent has explained why they scored a bit lower (wasn't even that low). The thing is that you've no way of knowing why you were scored the way you were unless you ask. Seeing as its a personal oppinion its not gonna be hard and fast, one persons cheap shot could be fine to someone else, so you've got to expect variation. The only reason I asked was to see if I was doing anything glaring I shouldn't have been. That way if I'm doing something dodgy I know to change it.

@lonestar - OK, I've got some stuff to build, I'll try and get a second table's worth of stuff done for the next tourny.

hmmmmmmm maybe it was....... who knows, but as you saw by your results...... you were easily one of the best sports there......... Once again I can't express how much of an honourable mention I want to put across to what I'm sure people will agree is a beautiful army..... armata_PDT_10.gif

I had a great time at the tourney and nothing with pulling 3rd outa my arse armata_PDT_14.gif
I was amazed at the fact I pulled a masterful Submarine move off to surface at 3rd...I was blown away My speed freak army (with 26 models 1 ork 25 squigs driving vehicles n the such)did so well smile.gifI was even nicely impressed that i was 2 points off top sports ...*note to self ..Performing monthly teeth brushing good idea before a tourney..*

I must admit my last 2 games my dice kicked in and opened a serious case of whupp arse on whatever got within range of my Buggys o doom.My last 2 games were extremely memerable with some extremly funny things happening in all of them(first game getting 7 scoring units at the opjective....21 buggys all told and from the last game of teh day doing a death or glory on a tech priest through a forest ...1st buggy rolls a 1 2nd one yup a 1 3rd one suceeds and gets the tank shock...tech marine takes it and hits me with the power fist rolls a 6 uh oh penetration....roll for armour plate...a 6 1 flat teckmarine witha rather suprised look on his face...and treadmarks)
All in all it was a great event and I cant wait for the next one.

Cheers for that guys

I tell you what though my funky Liber Animus Dice did everything they could to stop me winning anything ( not to mention my bone head move in turn 6 against Julian)

I had a blast

I quite liked all the missions, thought the last one was quite cool, though I think we should have been told what was going to happen before we deployed so we could plan a little more for it.

Trip, I find it hard to believe that you are also without a LA Invite?? Just what do you have to do to get to go to that tournament? Or who do you have to B@()W?

Congrats on the win mate, and if it wasn't for the Mountain biking that i did on the weekend, then I would have been there holding up the bottom end of the placings.

Hopefully will be at the next one. (with some terrain Lonestar@!)
