So I got the book and have been reading through it over the weekend when opportunity arose to do so. It has been a pretty good read so far, from a fluff point of view (well, imho it has).

Some interesting tidbits:

* It is set after the initial campaign that happened years ago. Creed successfully repulsed the first wave of the 13th Black Crusade, but yeah, more to come. Eldrad is still alive obviously, so that got retconned.

* Cypher features, grabbing something from the Forgeworld Hyrda Cordatus

* Kell is dead. Oh so dead. Abaddon crushes him. He manages to save Creed though.

*Cadia becomes a Daemon World for all of a day or two before splitting apart

I'm still getting through it, but some fun revelations and new things to wonder about, like what is Cawl looking after that Abaddon wants so badly.

If they get rid of points... Do you think 200 purestrains, a few dozen hybrids and a screamer killer is a good "fair force" against a few squads of orks?

Maybe they will change the force chart to have more mandatory minimums, such as a Super heavy or titan?

But seriously... I do not want to buy a new rule book. I have not even started reading the fluff from the last one yet.

It's been a bit longer than the change from 6th to 7th. I dont' think they are going to Sigmar the universe like they did for Fantasy. Not sure if they will Sigmar the rules though.

It's interesting that everyone's excited that they're "finally moving the 40k story forward" but for some reason no-one's ever expected the people who make Flames of War to do the same thing.

Can't you just Forge the Narrative? What if the Hungarians invaded Vietnam?

Cadia has been blown up, the Space Wolves are on the verge of being wiped out and the Eldar are offering a new alliance with the Imperium vs Chaos.

The pylons are no longer holding back the Eye of Terror...

Yeah, Trazyn used his tesseract vault to add Creed to his pile of trophies. Creed would have died otherwise. Not sure why the "pokeball" thing is dumb. Guy traps a bunch of warriors in stasis in some sub dimension thingy, then chooses to release them to help his own agenda.

Well it's assumed it's Trazyn just a metal giant in cloak. I've heard some people think it's Vulcan.

Dunno it just seemed really... Cartoonish to me bunch of random forces popping out and fighting the way they did.

I wonder if there will be a model shift at all in future, or at least display art change, since the most prominent line of IG miniatures are "Cadians"...

Maybe, they did go to the trouble fo saying things like the Ultras just went...Chaos! Kill them! whereas the Vostroyans etc were all "wtf just happened, where are we, what is going on?" before they finally figured it out and started fighting.

Cadian gear is common throughout the Imperium and is used by non Cadian forces, so I don't think that is likely.

'Cadian' gear was fluffed ages back as the stock standard gear produced by the Administratum a few editions back.

Though I'd love for them to just redo the models. Some of them are just a pain to put together.

Any who, enjoying all the suffering that's going on in the story. Happy to see things move forward ever so slightly.

Yeah I thought it was a good read. Glad I'm not the only one that took it to be Cypher in that break & enter sequence.

At least Kell died spitting in Abaddons face & not like a wuss (man there is some killing going on in this [thought Warzone Fenris was bad], along with a whole lot of vague fight to the last sequences when its unclear if they are dead (or survived somehow) I'll bring more of this up when I know you are 100% done.

Space Wolves aren't the only ones taking a beating & it'll be interesting to see where the Eldar angle goes next in this one (or is that Aeldarii or something haha)

The only dumb bit about the tesseract labrynth was it was like how do we get our plastic heresy kit into this book?...I know he has some stored heresy Ultramarines that's how.

It surely has to be Trazyn (his cloak is "scaled" check the mini), Vulcan appearing out of nowhere & having a laugh at Creed before it goes dark would be the most bizarre random thing ever (though I'm sure weirder stuff could happen)

Anyone else find it odd that the Kappic Eagles (Greyfax bodyguard) have black helms & red fatigues + a slighty more grey armour though still with their white stripe, (which is fine I like that altered inquisitor bodyguard style look) but not a single mention is made anywhere, even the pics at the back show them in the standard bone fatigues/teal armour which they clearly aren't wearing??

Oh I'm done. Interesting that 2 of the Space Wolf great companies bite the dust. The Ironwolves and Sven Bloodhowl's great companies are wiped out in the book.
