Hey Wargamers,

I will be attending this years ATC for WA and was woundering if any one could give me some advice on transport from Brisbane domestic airport to the Gold Coast. Most of my team arrives the day after me.

My plane lands at 2pm Thursday the 3rd of July @ Brisbane Domestic Airport.

Is the public train system easiest, what do I need to get a ticket, is coins fine (how much will a ticket cost)

Buses/shuttles are these just as easy, cheap and where do they take you to.

Local's, is there a kind enough local who would happily drive me to the Gold Coast (big ask I know) happy to give fuel money.

Are any of the other states players arriving around the same time interested in having someone tag along...

Cheers

I have only used the sky train from the airport to the city.
It is a cheaper than a taxi and will get you to a point where you can transfer to a train that will take you to the gold coast (at the transit centre in the city). It is worth doing.

I have not taken the train service from the city to the gold coast.
It supposedly cost $33.00 to get from the Airport to Helensvale(closest to Sharks league club) with a transfer + maybe $20-30 for taxi from station to the sharks leagues club or there abouts.
(or Nerang $33.60 )+ $$20-30 to Cavill ave (down town gold coast mall !!!!).

there are shuttle busses from the train stations to the beach areas. (it says $6.10 if you are full fare.).

This has some info: http://www.surfside.com.au/documents/gagweb16DPS.PDF

So if you are willing to wait and transfer 2 trains and a bus it might be as little as $40 -ish? and get you approoximately where you need to get....

Taxi fare Airport to the coast is about $170... if you believe the estimators....

If you can't get a ride down with someone, and you're on your own. The train is the easiest and cheapest like Stacy says above.

Depending on who's coming in when, you should be able to organize a group to travel together. Maybe the captains can share travel details?

the train is ok, costs a lot from the airport because its privately owned until you get in the city.

a few times I have gotten one of the coach's from bris airport to goldy when I lived there, it was cheaper and it dropped me and my luggage to my door.
Worth a look i reckon

Train down is best option then get off at like Helensvale station and there's about 3 or so busses which get you near to sharks.

GC Bus and Train transport got a nice site for working out how to get from A to B and gives prices too i think.
