Hi everyone. For the upcoming davecon event i've put together what i believe is a fairly fluffy list with no warmachines. However, i would like others oppinion on the list. Whether it actually is fluffy, some modifications i should make while still adhering to the lack of warmachines, or really any comment at all. All critisism or advice appreciated.

Runesmith
-2 runes of spellbreaking
-rune of stone
-shield
=122 points

thane bsb
-master rune of flight
rune of might
-rune of fire
=165 points

dragonslayer
=50 points

39 quarrelers
-command
-great weapons
=532 points

21 thunderers
-shields
-muso, banner
=330 points

20 quarrelers
-great weapons
-muso, banner
=275 points

6 miners
=66 points

6 miners
=66 points

total= 1600 points

thanks

Just a few suggestions.

I would split the unit of 39 quarrerllers into 2, you're paying a lot for those extra shots can not gaining the benefit. I have tried big units of quarrellers and have come to the conclusion that units of 20 work best.

Also it would be worth trying to fit some slayers in your list, since you have no warmachines, they will be your best bet to take down monsters.

I am not sure how pretty much every dwarf holding a missile weapon is fluffy? 80 shots per turn? The lack of warmachines is certainly refreshing.
Not criticising the list as such, but you will have a hard time convincing people it is fluffy. I think it needs a unit of warriors with great weapons, or HW/shield.

Either way, have fun with it smile.gif

Actually, went back and looked at it again, I forgot stunties can do crossbows AND great weapons. Fair enough I guess smile.gif

Twin-linked gives you the ability to miss twice with a single shot weapon.

I think its fluffy because i can't kill monsters effectively, because each of the units, (with the exception of the quarreler horde) will be killed if attacked independently, and because the list will more or less auto die if confronted with high armour save units, its very easy to lock down the units with cavalry and such to allow infantry to get in. Also, the alternaitve (warmachines) is far more efficient and flexible. This is a one way army. it will be able to deal with certain forces easily, for example, wood elves, it will die to others very easily (chaos).

i do think that i might swap out the twenty man quarrelers unit for hammerers though.

thanks

Fluffy, run some bolt throwers and swap the thunderers for something silly like slayers. Then you have a non-black powder list biggrin.gif

+1 to splitting the big unit of quarrellers. While having ranks in combat is nice, having 14 pts a model being unable to shoot unless you're 20 wide is a massive waste. Even dropping them to 30 makes them that much more managable and with the spare points you can get the unit of 20 with rangers so they can try and counter enemy deployment advantages.
Always remember, at least one turn you will have a unit with zero shooting if you want the rank reform, and with no anvil you can't get the surprise reform/charge that's just so funny to do. A hail mary charge going off will more likely than not break any of your units after the S&S reaction, and a flee won't be an option for you since as a gunline, you really don't have many places to flee too!

Just a note...fluffy doesn't mean "weak". It generally means an army inspired by background and theme more then "min/maxing" to make the most competitive list available in the book.

Not a massive deal, however it might mean people misread your purpose in the list.
