I like to tell a little story about the last man who was in a sword fight with Caine. During the fight he was heard commenting on how crappy a blade it was, old and busted, not cared for, and on and on. Finally he asked Caine what its name was. Caine grinned and said "Sword." and then shot the guy 4 times.

I am more wondering if u have folk that regularly play, I have been to several clubs that say they play but all too often don't but instead have armies but don't really use them anymore...

Well the honest answer is I think in about 20 meets last year there would have been maybe 2 games of 40k tops this year.

I live in the Laverton area. I play quite a few board games. Mainly war games, and mainly via Vassal the past 5 years or more. Been looking for local FTF opponents or a club for some time. Does your group play board games?

Cheers,
Scott

most of us have a large collection of board games, though tbh we play wargames and such more than board games. try bringing them along and we can all join in for some games.

Oh cos I thought it was a board game of some sort as if you read you comment and FTF was a board game, your commen would still make sense.

Just curious who do you currently meet with to play games with?

Online I play with some people here in AU, but I also play with a lot of people overseas. Mainly Americans but I have played with some guys from Europe. These are games I play using Vassal.

Face to Face, well my wife and I played Dungeon a few times (I painted figurines for my set) but not recently. I also played Civilisation with my family 12 months ago. Haven't played a war game for a few years now.

I've got a lot of old stuff like Russian Campaign, African Campaign (my favorite), Fortress Europa, SL, Fury in the West, War at Sea, Victory at Sea, Jutland. Some other goodies like Kingmaker, Diplomacy, Civilisation, Dune. More recently I have bought Bataan! and Ikusa.

I'll come along on the 28th Feb. I think work will clash with the 8th Feb.

There is quite an eclectic mix of players at WSWA , most everyone plays tabletop war-game of some sort be it fantasy , sci -fi or historical but I reckon you could easily unearth a few board gamers hidden amongst them .
I don't know any myself but the mix of people there is too great for there not to be some like minded board gamers like yourself.
Unlike most other clubs I've visited in the last 12 months there doesn't seem to be a single ominous presence of "one game system to rule them all " , so you could be lucky in finding a fellow boardgamer amongst them by just asking around , daunting as it is .
I've seen people sitting out the back playing boardgames of some sort but I don't know who they are or what they are playing unfortunately .

cheers tom
