seems a lot of GW shops are going

*battlegroup from end of document + 1 additional warscroll of 2*min unit size

not as much variety, but a quick and easy way to balance i guess?

Sorry but I have to disagree,
I do not believe that's how ppl want to play AOS from what I have observed.
player pack should not "force" ppl to play the game how you want it but encourage them to make decisions and not go for the best.

think about it this way,

if I use my high elves for the past 40 pick up games without archer or spearmen.
why would I waste my time to paint and rebase 30 to 40 of these models so i get to play in your tourney which probably only happen once a year??

I liked the mainstay idea because it stops it becoming a game of "who has the best single wound infantry".

But after thinking about it this afternoon the better approach is to make core units cheaper with something like this:

The first 20 of the following models count as half a wound each:
Beastmen - gor
Dark elves - dreadspears, bleakswords, corsairs
Dwarfs - warriors
High elves - spearmen, seaguard
Lizardmen - saurus warriors
Orcs and Goblins - Orcs, arrer boys
Skaven - clanrats
Empire - archers, state troopers, free company
Warriors of chaos - marauders
Wood elves - eternal guard

The first 30 of the following models count as half a wound each:
Beastmen - ungors, ungor raiders
Ogre kingdoms - gnoblars
Orcs and Goblins - goblins, night goblins
Skaven - skavenslaves
Tomb kings - skeleton warriors
Vampire counts - skeleton warriors, zombies

I'm struggling to understand the relevance of WA mining profits to a discussion about the masters for a toy soldiers game, but thanks for your input.

sounds good, pretty much the same idea with what i had before. (the idea I had previously is elite units max 20 wounds, crap units >20 wounds)

I would be careful when choosing mainstay units though.

such as, seaguards are really good and with the right command and magic, they can be brutal.

in fact most range unit that are also not bad in combat are really good.

My thinking with some of the mainstays wasn't that they they are all bad but some need a boost when there is a clearly better alternative.

I have played against a big unit of seaguard and they were pretty good but without giving them a bonus you would take sisters over them every time.

The other consideration is victory conditions. Do these count as half or a third of a model for calculating minor wins? Being able to bring lots of squishy slaves may not be an advantage,

Yes, and as I was told yesterday by both Tim and the TO; they counted towards only the Hero allotment of Wounds.

someone was upset because I did not reply to this.

I didn't response to this before is because I didn't know who you are base on your forum name, since someone told me you are John now I do.

despite the intention of The TO, what you said contradict what was stated on the pack.

if I remove the word "illiegal" from my post would make people happier, i'm glad to do so.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

peace.
