The top 10 codexes used in SA for this year were:
Chaos Space Marines
So bad luck to Dark Angels, Sisters of Battle, Tyranids, Eldar and Daemons.
The top 10 Codexes will be randomly allocated to a player from the Masters this year for a list to be written, then all lists will be approved for use by the player group in a panel process.
I have solid model collection for Tau and Space Wolves, and a shakier collection of Space Marines (but doubt it would be required). Somehow all the other armies I have missed out. Eldar even missed out on a "being missed out" mention!
Yep, to add, I have big collections for:
Tau (well collection isn't big, but its all the relevant models)
If people require.
If its in the space marines codex - I have it, often in mulitiple units or versions - capable of also fielding many BA /SW options but Tom and Neil probably have puppies covered
I can cover alot of the new toys for the crons and some of the GK stuff.
Can cover anything for DE.
I have a "smallish" Ork hoard.
Between my praetorians and catachans I can cover nearly all guard options!
I have quite a few options for BA aswell, and ALOT of power armoured GKs (assuming painting isn't an issue)
How are you guys going to deal with flyers and anti-flyers. It seems like there's a big gap between codexes along these lines at the moment. I suppose using necron list without flyer spam will help, but have there been any thoughts on it so far? Just curious about what the state of the game is.
I reckon that's covered with the "everyone writes a list and throws it into the pot, then we random draw armies" approach.
You wouldn't write an CronAir list, if you knew there was a good chance you'd never get to use it, and quite likely you'd have to face it.
I suppose. It's going to be really hard to get the balance correct across the 10 lists. Good luck gents.
Part what Pat says, part I don't think people are going to write your typical 'Ard Boyz style lists.
Also, we have a panel where we all share input on the lists, and don't leave a room until we are happy with them all... or kill each other
Yeah, I'm just thinking I don't know how easy it'll be to have flyers in the mix AND keep the lists balanced. They're firmly part of the meta now I guess so it'd be a shame to have a masters without them, but at the same time I think it'll be hard to come up with 10 lists that can all have a half decent chance against flyers as well as the other lists, especially at 1500. I'll be really interested to see what you guys come up with.
From what I have seen from 6th so far, there are not many Flyers that in smaller quantities are complete game changers. They are not as hard to deal with, and most of them aren't as dominant if they are only included as 1 or 2 in a list.
There won't be any air-force lists in the field, its not an all out arms race.
I certainly will be assuming to see some flyers at least however.
Do you think you can deal with 1 or 2 flyers without decent anti-air? Things like autocannons, twin linked autos or dedicated anti-air? And I would imagine that there won't be triple psyfleman lists...
Obviously 10 cron flyers or 9 vendettas will break the tournament.
Shhh don't tell them that!
Are we able to draw armies out now thy 9/10 are confirmed? The last player designs the list that isn't drawn out?
You don't need to necessarily 'take out' a flyer with an average list, you can also ignore it or minimise it and its potential to break the game is limited - in your example - no it may not deal with the flyers, but it may wipe the rest of your smaller (due to pts on two flyers) force off the table. You don't win too many missions with just two flyers.
At Mech about 1/4 of the armies had a flyer or more. If you look at the top ten about 1/4 had a flyer - look at bottom 10 about 1/4 had a flyer. They are good , but I do not believe as game defining as you believe Scott.
Pretty sure with the 10 best performing players in the state working on the lists we will come up with something workable (as we have for last two years)
So when do we start the codex raffle??
The draw is done, codexes have been assigned to people.
Once we have collectively put the lists together we will publish them online, but until then, that's all for now folks
