I'll start by making clear this is not meant to be mod bashing. They assist with the site on top of all lifes BS. I would also like to thank Dono1979 for advise and assisting moderating the thread while it was up.

I recently started a Tread in BSS Sci-Fi called 'WTB/WTT EPIC & AERONAUTICA IMPERIALIS, An open invitation to trade our Epic collections'. Which was as it says a invitation to buy and sell Epic and Aeronautica on my thread.

This was a direct response to GW and FW pulling support and the rip-off merchants on Evilbay selling Specialist games stuff for inflated prices.

Now I hadn't at the time considered that it was a violation of the forum rules until someone with a new account put $400 worth of epic up for sale on the thread and I immediately became worried that someone would get ripped off.
I informed a mod about my fear and received this response

Hi,

In response to your reported post in relation to a new user in the sale thread, this restirction is only applicable to people Starting a sale thread, not posting in it. Any user is free to post in an established sale thread irrelevant of their post count or status.

Whilst it is not against the rules to create an open free for all sales thread like has been done, it is highly difficult to manage for the exact reasons you have already encountered.

The mods are currently discussing the path to take moving forward.

Regards

Now a week later the thread has been closed by a mod. Adding to the closure ' Anyone found trying to bypass the system that has been setup will end up with their account being suspended.'

Strange I thought I'd been told it wasn't against the rules? Was this their way of 'moving forward'?

Anyway the thread was very popular and I received a lot of feedback thanking me for such a great idea (I stole the idea from Tacc comms but thanks anyway).

Anyhow do we need a specialist games section? I couldn't help but think so when I noticed how popular my thread had become. How many Necromunda, Mordheim, BFG ect gamers would like to have their own thread.

Even with the new Sci-fi, Fantasy, Historical, General sections specialist games stuff gets lost as a small section of someones sale thread in 3 of the 4 sections.

Whats your thoughts?

God no, not MORE subforums.

Everything was better back in my day. Was it so hard to look at more than the front page of BSS?

To me this is a strange way to run that restriction.
