Interesting news, but I'm trying to work out why Paul Sawyer felt it was necessary to announce his new nid army to the world at the same time.

haha

classic GW

"your armies wont change. they will still have the same rules as before, only those rules will change. this will not have any impact the overall effectiveness of your army. honest. to demonstrate, here's a tangent"

well played sirs, just like your rulebooks, you take a lot of space to answer very little at all (or outright mislead in some places, a change to rending will clearly change the effectiveness of units with it, for example. this will obviously change peoples armies and army lists) bravo. if only this had came out 5 days earlier :/

i hope the changes are for the better, but the wafting odour of cowpat from that announcement is not a particularly good sign.

Would have been nice to hear if there was confirmation of the 'only troops are scoring' scuttlebutt. That, if true, will have a huge effect on a lot of people's armies.

But of course, GW live in a crazy dream world where everyone takes 75% of their army as troops anyway...

"Our team of Games Developers, Artists and Miniatures Designers have been hard at work for some time now refining the current rules system to give our gaming experiences even more dynamicism as well as planning the look of the finished item."

I'm glad to see they got the artists and miniature designers right onto helping out with the rules.

I have been in gaming of one type or another for 25 years. Please, for gods sake GW treat your audience with more respect than this. I know that it is going to affect my army, this spin isn't going to allay my fears. Perhaps I am just a bit toey after the chaos codex nerfed my favorite army, but I now have many useless models sitting in the cabinet. It doesn't take much to completely change the nature of the game, or the effectiveness of a list. Perhaps it is time for this company to release downloadable official updates to lists at the release of 5th ed rules. Maybe this sounds cheap but when I can get a Warmachine softcover for $40 or less the $85 or maybe $95 this time for 40k is starting to loose its appeal by comparison.

It mentions WD 291 on the page. Get the feeling this is for 4th ed, not 5th?

Bahaha this made my day. Way to go off half ####ed guys smile.gif

I'm interested to see what changes 5th edition brings... perhaps it's time to give the old crew a call. I like the idea of troops becoming more viable, but that's not surprising considering I'm am (or was) Imperial Guard player.

Sorry about that. Seems I was a bit keen to post the link without reading all the way through. If I had of bothered, the #291 is a hint, but the give away is that Paul Sawyer wrote it. He hasn't been the UK WD Editor for about three years now. The current editor is Mark Latham.

Ok for the lame people like myself can someone decode that statement they've put out. Is this basically what they did before releasing another big and expensive rule book.

Sorry if i've misunderstood but their release sounded like a Rudd sound bite.

Now you think GW would have removed this article from their sight. I mean its super out of date information...but I guess by keeping it up since the release of 4th ed they wont need to post another for 5th tongue.gif

Well that was a waste of time. Basically it said "Yes a new rulebook is coming, and no we wont tell you anything about it"

But that's fine, since the new rulebook they're talking about was released 5 years ago, and we've all read it by now...

Yes but what makes it even more stupid Treadhead is that they're talking about 4th ed! So they've had that page up on their site well before Oct 2004!
