What's the interest in a Deadzone tournament in Canberra? Interstate visitors are most welcome.

I'd like to run a one day event at WinterCON at Exhibition Park Canberra in July. To try and build up some interest in the local scene I'd like to run 2 - 3 mini tournements between now and then.

I was thinking of running the mini tournaments either in a Church hall if we have very limited attendance i.e. 4 - 7 players (one of my wargaming friends is a Priest - he bought a demon army though tongue.gif). Or if we can get 8+ players approaching Canberra's FLGS: Jolt Games in Mitchell Canberra.

There will be 4 to 5 x 45 min games with a 60 min BYO lunch break and prize ceromony at the end.

Entry will be $25 inc $5 venue hire, $10 for prize support and $10 because everyone who comes gets a "free" Deadball team. Prizes will be for 1st, best painted, and best sports. And if we get more than 4 people prizes will also be for 2nd, 3rd and wooden spoon. If we get more than 8 people, then 2nd and 3rd best painted will also get prizes.

Non Mantic minis are allowed, although it must be clear what they are. So 40K Orks as Marauder Orx or Space Marines as Enforcers are fine. Same with Infinity or Imperial Assault or Imperial Guard as GCPS or Rebs.

I will also be approching Mantic for official prize support.

I was planning of running these on public holiday weekends.

We have Canberra Day (Monday 12th of March), Easter (Friday 30th of March to Tuesday 3rd of April) and ANZAC day (Wednesday 25th of April, so the weekend on the 21st/22nd or 28th/29th) all coming up.

A local Canberra software developer has added Deadzone to http://tabletop.to although currently it's just in his test version of the software. We use this software for Clash of Kings here in Canberra. It's great!

The WinterCON tournement in July will most likely cost more than $25, as The Canberra Games Society charges quite a lot for CanCon and WinterCON. For example the Kings of War: Clash of Kings Australia tournament at CanCon cost $60 for 2 days + $3 online booking fee.

Please comment below if you are interested and your prefered weekend / public holiday. Note that the Church hall is not in use over Easter so we can use it for a fee.
