I had an epic version of this post typed out, and my son hit reset on my PC before i could submit it
Including my SW's, i currently have 3 40k armies on the go. My first real army was Daemon Hunters, which im currently redoing. Im also working on a Raven Guard army. Im a bit of a fluff addict, and a problem i had was making my RG competitive, while still being fluffy. This is hard to do and include tanks. So to that end, i intended leaving my RG for Apoc, and making a tough as nails SW list. One of the things that drew me to Bran Redmaw (apart from the name similarity) is the high use of Wulfen and Grey Hunters. That allows a very 13th company feel, without having to sacrifice tanks etc. Ive been interested in doing a SW army for around 16 years. I planned to make a 13th company when the Eye of Terror codex came out, but ended up meeting a woman, and the rest is history Im still waiting for my codex, so i wont even attempt an army list, but to start with here is a few pics of what i have so far: Blood Claws on the left, Grey Hunters on the right. Both need to be finished painted. I may steal the Blood claws though and turn them into regular assault troops for my RG. Guy on the left is the 2003 Games Day rune priest. Guy in the middle the current twin claw model, and the guy on the right is an old long fang, for a project down below... ![]() Leman Russ! Been saving this for years with the plans to convert it to a SW tank. Im still unsure whether i cant to do that (as in Apoc it wont matter how its painted) or to repaint it for my new DH army. Thoughts? ![]() 2 dakka Pred's (have a third one in the shed getting its paint stripped) and a whirlwind. If i dont add the whirly to my SW's, it will go back to my RG to be included in a suppression force formation. ![]() 3 Land Speeders. Same as the whirlwind, i may use these in my SW army, if not, they will go back to my RG. ![]() A long time ago i helped Ardog make some 4 wheel bikes as rough riders, and i have some left over bikes(withought wheels ![]() Remeber the Grey Hunter? He's going to be mounted into the top of my Terminus Ultra, right next to a SW version of Chronus. Ive already started converting this up as you can see. ![]() ![]() Thats it for now, i need to pick something and start working on it! (most likely the bikes or TULR) This post has been edited by Barn: Apr 6 2010, 01:57 PM -------------------- [40K]Space Wolves, Raven Guard, Grey Knights, Flesh Tearers. Was out most of the weekend, so didnt get to much done.
I couldnt get the tracked bikes to work as well as i wanted, but it worked out as having 'chain wheels'. ![]() I also filled in the top and sides on the LR, and made the new area for my Chronus figure. I started adding some pipping and other decorative stuff. ![]() ![]() I want to fill the new area on top with skulls, any suggestions as to where to get them? -------------------- [40K]Space Wolves, Raven Guard, Grey Knights, Flesh Tearers. Gotta say man i love the look of the bike wheels, look sick as aids =P I started making new ones to finish up the squad, and almost gave up in frustration. I just could not get them to stay in place long enough for the glue to set. By chance, i found my old tube of glue, and discovered i had used a glue 'gel' to make the original. Once i got some more of that type of glue, i was able to finish up the bikes i have It has been far too long between updates, but Christmas, family health and a rapidly dwindling bank account have hampered the army. With the amount of friendly game offers on the rise though, i need to pull my finger out and atleast get a starter force done! With 1200 points chosen as our 'club standard', i posted up a list here to get some feedback before i set about making purchases. From this, i know i need the following: Wolf Priest 5 Blood Claws (one with a flamer) 23 Grey Hunters (2 melta gunners) 5 Scouts (one melta-gun) 3 Wolf Guard with combi-melta's 2 Wolf Guard with combi-melta's and powerfists Wolf Guard in Termi armour with Cyclone missile launcher Wolf Guard on Bike 3 Swift Claw Bikers Swift Claw Attack Bike with Multi Melta 6 Long Fangs (5 Missile Launchers, one leader) 2 Rhino's 2 Razorbacks (one with TL las-cannon, one with las-cannon and twin linked plasma) -------------------- [40K]Space Wolves, Raven Guard, Grey Knights, Flesh Tearers. When i started this diary, i intended to work out a list, sort out what i had and could use, then just go out and buy everything to fill the gaps. Unfortunately (or fortunately lol) my wife and i have decided to try and pay off some debts before we have another baby, so this really limits my wardolls budget.
To that end, i have raided all my armies, bits boxes, friends bits boxes, added things to my present lists, traded and begged and kept my eye's pealed for bargins to snag. I have managed to score almost everything so far, and when im done i think the 1200 lists above will have been put together for less than $100 in new purchases! Having said that, there is a decent amount of converting/fixing i need to do before every looks like it should, but its defiantly going to keep me busy! I scored a couple boxes of the new wolves packs for Christmas, and have been using these to update all the old miniatures. Basically, when mixing old and new stuff to make it go further, my general rule was this:
So here's some progress of the army so far: Only 2 Blood Claws i have done at this stage: ![]() 5 Grey Hunters: ![]() 4 Grey Hunters and a Wolf Guard with Combi Melta: ![]() My Long Fangs. I used 2 AoBR models in this squad. I added the wolf tail head and a wold tail to the ML of the missle guys. I used an AoBR Termie, adding a Wolf Pelt from a chaos marauder box, a wolf tail, the wolf skill to the top of the storm bolter. I then also chopped the sword off, and replaced it with the sword hand from the Space Wolf Box. Both conversions were simple and effective i think ![]() The scouts. I have a few of the old scouts, but i really didnt like the look of thier heads or weapons. Some side cutter/dremel work, and some bits from the space wolf sprue's, and i think they actually look better than the new plastic scouts. ![]() And last for right now, is my Bran Redmaw. While not in the first 1200 points, i couldnt help making him ![]() -------------------- [40K]Space Wolves, Raven Guard, Grey Knights, Flesh Tearers. [Fantasy]High Elves, Wood Elves. Small update
I picked up my latest Forge World order this arvo, which included this beauty: ![]() Plasma cannon and CC arm, I will use him as Bjorn in some games. I also finished converting up my Swift Claw attack bike. I was trying ot create a model that felt right for a Blood Claw, like he was about to leap into a fight the second the bike stopped moving. As im also using snow to base my marines, i created a sled, which fitted the look i was after perfectly. ![]() Theres a few things to fix up and some little bits to add, but its basically done. -------------------- [40K]Space Wolves, Raven Guard, Grey Knights, Flesh Tearers. Mate this army is looking great! I say go with the Leman Russ idea, but maybe just use it in Apoc games and convert it into an exterminator, I think it was in a n old Space Wolves Codex many years ago....can't remember. My Mammoth tank will only be used in Apoc game so why the hell not, makes it interesting. Top work and can't wait to see more.

I am very keen to order mine, just need some more funding since i am buying so many arms -.- Yep comes with the extra feet. I was pretty happy with that, as it looks like the new GW Ven Dread has normal feet. So spending the extra 5 pound on the scenic base gives you an extra set of ven dread feet, which i'll use on the GW one Also as an interesting note, getting a FW ven dread, 2 arms and a scenic base is cheaper than the GW price of their Dread. So if you willing to 'lose' 2 arms, you get a far better looking dread This post has been edited by Barn: Mar 14 2010, 10:33 AM -------------------- [40K]Space Wolves, Raven Guard, Grey Knights, Flesh Tearers.
