Gobbocon 2018 1200pt Vanguard Age of Sigmar Matched Play Tournament Sunday the 15th of April, Holdfast Bay Community Centre The Event: The tournament is a one day, four round 1200pt Age of Sigmar matched play even using the Vanguard level army composition rules. Tickets: Entry cost $30 and includes a full day of gaming and lunch. This should be paid before the tournament and can be paid in the following ways:
Venue: The venue location is Holdfast Bay Community Centre, King George Ave, Hove. Tournament Schedule:
What to bring:
It's that time of year again, where the Grots come out to play, for it's Gobbocon, celebration of all things Grot (or Gobbo, whichever you prefer)! This year, each army will pay allegiance to one of the Grot clans, and in return for your services, they have granted your General a gift. Please note on your tournament list which Grot Clan from below your army will pay allegiance to. Gitmob The Gitmobs are conniving, cunning and tricksy. They are experts in being sneaky, and lay many traps for their enemies. The great Gitmob clan has lent your general some trappers that have sabotaged some of the battlefield at your orders. After territory has been chosen, but before the first unit is deployed, secretly choose one of the terrain pieces on the board to be Sabotaged. After deployment has finished, reveal this terrain piece. That piece is considered Deadly terrain in addition to any other effects for the remainder of the battle. If the terrain is already deadly it becomes extra deadly! and models will fail the deadly test on a roll of 1 or a 2. Moonclan The moonclan's harvest madcap mushrooms from deep within the mountains. These mushrooms are a speciality of the moonclan's shamans and give the caster tremendous power although they may lose their sanity. Before your General attempts to cast a spell he can eat a Madcap Mushroom. If he does so roll a dice; on a 2 or more add 2 to the subsequent casting roll. On a 1 the mushroom was bad and he can do nothing else until your next hero phase as he starts hallucinating. Moonclan Grot Shaman's may not use the Madcap Mushroom ability on their warscroll but may re-roll the dice for this ability. Spiderfang The spiderfang clan have close ties to all the poisonous spiders of the forest and worship a spidery aspect of Gorkamorka called the Spider God. The spider god has granted your General a boon of poisonous spider venom, harvested from their arachnarok spiders. Choose one of your General's weapons (which may not be one of their mounts weapons), any hit roll made with that weapon of a 6 or more will inflict a mortal wound in addition to its regular damage. House Rules: All measuring will be done from base to base, regardless of whether they are based on square or round bases. Best effort should be to ensure your models are on the appropriate base size. Matchups and Scoring: The first round will have random match ups. Each round after that will be swiss drawn. Clubs and Regular Opponents To break ties in matchups, where possible we will try to avoid matching up club mates or regular opponents. This includes the first round (which is random matchup). Please let the TO know at registration if you belong to a club. Match Scoring You will automatically achieve a set number of points based on how well your army did during the match. Major Victory - 15 points Minor Victory - 12 points Draw - 7 points Minor Loss - 3 points Loss - 1 point In addition, please add up the number of Victory Points your army dealt to the opposing army. This will be used for tie breaking scores during swiss pairing. Painting Score Your army will receive a painting score based on the following criteria At least half your army is painted to 3 colours minimum Your entire army is painted to 3 colours minimum Your entire army has highlighting/shading Your entire army is based Your army has conversions Your army has a painted centrepiece model with highlighting/shading and basing Your army has an accompanying theme or backstory (More than just being part of the same sub-faction). You should be able to give a brief outline of your army to gain this point. Your fully painted and based army is displayed on a display board Each of the above will gain you a single painting point up to a maximum of 5 points. At the end of the tournament, you will gain this number of points for each round of the tournament. Composition and Sportsmanship There will be no composition score at this event. Please note that people are still expected to conduct themselves in a friendly manner. Intimidation to over the top gamey attitudes will not be tolerated. Any issues with people should be raised with the TO. Glorious Prizes: Final prizes to be determined based on numbers, but ideally there will be at least one prize for the best player of each Grand Alliance. These prizes will be confirmed closer to the date, but the goal is to at least have prizes for first place, players choice, and top player from each grand alliance. Additional painting, sportsmanship, and placement prizes dependant on player numbers. Overall Place Your final score for the tournament is calculated as follows: Battle 1 + Battle 2 + Battle 3 + Battle 4 + 4*Painting = Total Score Tie breaking will be done on Total Score Strength of Schedule Enemy Slain The following prizes will be given out based on Overall Place: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and then best player in each Grand Alliance Players Choice Each player will nominate a favourite opponent after the final game. The player who has the most votes will be the Players Choice. This will be tie broken first on favourite army votes, and then based on overall place. Favourite Army Each player will nominate a favourite army during the army presentation. The player who has the most votes will be the favourite army of the event. This will be tie broken first on whether or not the army has a backstory, then players choice votes, and then based on on overall place. TO’s Choice This will be the TO’s favourite army and player throughout the event. Version 17/02/2017 - Version 1 - Initial Pack 12/03/2018 - Version 2 - Changed how Malign Portents works to allow Harbringers 14/04/2018 - Version 3 - Expand on how prizes are allocated This post has been edited by weissm: Apr 14 2018, 11:17 AM |

Gobbocon is tomorrow, and there's plenty of space. So if there are any late comers, feel free to bring an army and pay on the day.
Lastly, last minute updates to the players pack just in regards to how prizes will be handled. See you all tomorrow! |
