How long has it been since GW increased their prices? It's not the end of the world. Every business increases their prices ona regular basis...why should GW be any different?

A lot of the price increases lately are out of the hands of the companies. I know that the price of Tin itself has gone up dramatically and thus the cost of making the models we all love has gone up, thus they have to raise their prices just to stay at the same profit margin as before.

I live in Toronto at the moment. Before I head back to Australia Im buying up BIG from the US. Havent you SEEN what they pay? Canada is 50% more, dollar is on parity and there is free trade agreements. Its dum. Australia though just gets ripped big time on prices for GW.

I lol hard at all the people that see a thread like this as some sort of 'recruitment' opportunity for other games systems.
If price was an issue, would I play GW games? Why would a price rise stop me from playing a game I enjoy? If you want to look at price rises that seem offensive... go to your local service station and look at the price of a Coke... now thats plainly offensive. Price isnt stopping me from playing other games systems... wankers will. -------------------- SA 40k Tournament Information Database

The best way to keep costs down is to not have like heaps of armies, or you can play LOTR
Prices raises in GW minis are like the rise in petrol however they dont go up every week and its only like a 1 to 5 dollar increase on most products. Everything will go up eventually, as will every other product in Autralia so deal with it and dont whinge. -------------------- The Uruks are coming and the White Tower stands defiant

Companies costs increase and they pass it on to their customers it happens, no one forces you to buy the models, but I'll bet their's people complaining about it who will end up buying new marine mini's which is ironic.
Now the hobby is not cheap one and will always be expensive and so are other systems so I don't see why people are up in arms over it, maybe they should take up playing marbels or something similar, nothing stopping people from getting models cheaper overseas such as splash releases, so people build bridge and get over it. -------------------- "As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. well there are those who will accept it then there will be those who still expect a bottle of coke to be 15 cents....

I know plenty of miniature manufacturers who haven't had a price increase recently or with the frequency or level that GW has. |

Well, by rights the GW models in Australia are so overcosted compared to other countries that they shouldn't have to raise the prices here. I'm not saying they won't though.
I also acknowledge that I'll still buy their plasti-crack, out of love and need. This post has been edited by Mike the Donkey: Aug 23 2008, 10:04 PM -------------------- The salamander bisque tastes like ####.

Get yourselves a wooden hoop and hit it down a dirt road with a stick... And there'll bne those of us who purchase cheaper alternatives and marvel at the sheer amount of lead we have that threaned to collapse the wall shelving This topic does come up regularly and the price and quality issues have been done over. You support GW, good for you, those of us who find the price excessive for the product will quite happily stick to our alternatives without worrying that the only ruleset available will be HG Wells rules. The GW boxed sets certainly help the value for money aspect. |
