I've been building up this army for a while now, keeping everything cheap and taking opportunities as they come. This army is destined to become a full company Apocalypse style force. To save money (which makes such a goal possible) the tanks I use are the old smaller ones - except the land raider.
Time now to paint them up and varnish them. I'll add units here as they are completed. Terminator Squad: ![]() ![]() Assault Terminator Squad: ![]() This post has been edited by Plague Marine: Sep 28 2009, 11:34 PM -------------------- My blog: A Plague Spreads

The sergeant (if he is one) in the first picture can't carry a Chainfist as he doesn't have a powerfist to exchange in the first place. Also are they all AoBR models?

It'll be a ten man squad combat squading. They look nice, the lighting isn't doing you any favours. Try taking them on a lighter background so the edge highlights don't get so distorted. -------------------- "shirty, the slightly aggressive bear"

yep they are all AoBR termis, with some second Ed assault arms.

Nice work, very very similar to my Fists.
Are you using the same technique? The highlighting in areas is little thicked lined, have you tried running the side of a brush along the edges rather than tracing the edges with the brush tip, I find it is a lot easier to control? But a great start! This post has been edited by Fingolfin: Jul 5 2009, 04:14 PM -------------------- Working on.

But a great start! Are you the guy with the huge crimson fists thread? Yeah they are very similar, just a coincidence. I guess there are only so many ways that you can paint them. The mid level highlights come up quite bright in the photos. I actually want them to be much thicker than the second highlights which I apply as you described above. Hopefully looks neater in person. I used Ultramarines Blue as highlights but washed the 1st highlights with the Blue wash before final highlights. Looking forward to seeing the company come together, I know what its like. I see that you have started painting the Land Raider, and that I expect it to show up sometimes at the club soon at some points...

Its been a while updating this, mainly because its a pain for me to take the time to take photos and upload them. I know my photos suck, at least you can get the general idea. I don't think I have the energy to put into making them better though - sorry!
As I took these guys to Judgement day I got some more painting done, and I continued on to paint a second tactical squad and Rhino in the last couple of weeks. I've got about 2000 points painted and varnished now. Next stop, the half company - I need to add a three bike unit, another tactical squad, a devastator squad and a Captain. Of course, looking at the photographs I can now see all the detail I have missed. Multi-melta barrels doh! -------------------- My blog: A Plague Spreads

The highlights work well on the marines but dont transfer very well to the vehciles.
Not sure how to fix that, maybe layerup a highlight or something? -------------------- Math-hammer requires a level of free thinking deemed unfitting for a true, loyal Guardsmen; ignorance is your shield! 40k Armies for sale |

I think the highlighting on the vehicles gives them more 'pop' (yes, I love that word haha) - it really brings them out, especially on such a dark blue. I think you've done a fantastic job! -------------------- "A good soldier obeys without question. A good officer commands without doubt."

Having seen and played with these models I think they look great.
I'm not sold on the idea of old rhinos but each to their own. I know you said its your cheaper army to slowly grow, but I think there would ben enough people around with newer rhinos you could salvage. The only thing I can suggest to improve the army is the terminators really need to improve their rolls to hit. -------------------- If a tech priest goes to ground against telsa weapons, does he take no damage?
